So how did you do with last week’s task?

I cleaned out that drawer, and was amazed at the amount of junk in just that one little drawer! I got rid of a lot of stuff!

Doesn’t it look so much better now? (You can see the before picture in last week’s post.)

    drawer

I’m still working on that darn closet, although I didn’t make much more progress this week.

And then there’s other stuff I unearthed that seemed to just make the mess worse instead of better. I’m anxious for that to stop happening!

But it all has to be dealt with, and I’ll get to it in due time.

This week’s task is another repeat, but one I’m obviously in dire need of:

Work on organizing your magazines or books

Prompted by this stack right here:

    Magazines

And another one just like it downstairs.

I’m not even going to bring the downstairs ones upstairs if I’m not keeping them. They can exit my abode from right where they are, and I’ll feel much better having one less pile to deal with!

I’ve decided to devote just a little time each day to sit down and go through a few of them at a time, and deal with them. Some I will keep, some I will give away, and some will go into recycle.

My ultimate goal is to have all my books and magazines fitting into my one bookcase. To make that happen, I have a long way to go, but I’m determined. That’s what I’m working on this week.

    How about you?

Do you still have too many books and magazines?

Do you still have some you need to sort through and give to new homes (even if it’s the recycle bin)?

If you have subscriptions, they keep coming in, and if you’re like me, it’s easy to let them pile up. Do you have such a pile? If so, it’s time to deal with it.

Let me know how it goes!

I really like the push that is challenge gives me to work towards a goal. I am stuck on “finding” my cutting table and then my sewing desk to have all the space that is there clear so I can use it. Drawers are in the queue but the top is at the head of the list to do.

This is helping me feel that I’m not alone.
My cutting table got covered when I was cutting T-shirts. I cleaned it off and it took less time than normal, so I’m hoping I’m learning from this process. LOL
I’m happy to be on the journey with you!

I got my drawers cleaned out. Didn’t get rid of much but I now know what is in there. This blog post is about that.

Going through my books and magazines have been on-going since we did it last. I am actually having to go through my downstairs “library” because we are getting new carpet in there. This is perfect timing, but won’t be done this week.

  3. Goody – I have so many magazines, I now have a week to keep at them. Your drawer looks wonderful. Congrats, and thanks for helping us get organized. The mess is such a challenge it’s good to be directed.

This is so funny. Last night I finished going through the books my friend who passed away who’s family gave me. Over 200 of them. It was a tedious job for sure. I am giving more then I am keeping. I kept about 30 because they are in sequence and also they have 1-5 or so patterns that go into other months, but I stuck to it. It took me 2 days but I’m glad I went and did it. Now I can close that chapter from my mind. I hate it when I go to bed and my brain won’t stop thinking about things to do that I keep putting off. I SLEPT LAST NIGHT! Yeah me!

Great posts on organizing. I love to organize but my many books seem to over whelm me, but will try starting today.

I am cleaning out all my magazines (QNM that date back into the 70s!) Pretty ruthless so the going out pile is much bigger than the keeping pile. One downside, I want to keep a serial pattern and THINK I have already sent off the critical last part earlier!!!!! 🙁
