Studio Organizing, Week 10

Posted on March 5, 2015 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio Organizing Challenge

I really didn’t like last week’s task! But it needed doing.

And I’m still not done, but I made a dent in it! I’ll keep chipping away at it. Taxes DO have a deadline, after all!

The pile in the floor is gone, lots of filing has been done, AND — I filled an entire bag with stuff I don’t even need to keep — that felt good!

And this area looks a lot better, too, although cleaning it up made me realize how much I need to dust!

The fact that I’ve not completed several of the tasks, mainly because things are in more of a mess than working on them for one week will cure, leads me to this week’s task:

Go back and pick a task from a previous week that you’re not finished with and work on it again

This could be almost any one of the previous tasks for me. If I manage to finish one that I pick, I’ll pick a second one as well.

You can see the entire list of tasks here: Studio Organizing Challenge.

I have many more drawers to clean out, lots of papers left to go through, more books and magazines to unpack and organize, my work surface is always in need of cleaning, and my oldest UFO is still not finished!

Plus, in all my cleaning, I unearthed a lot more stray fabric that needs to be put away — my little basket is back to full already:

So that’s our task for this week.

Is there a previous task that you didn’t get finished with, either?

Which task will you choose to revisit this week?

Or are you all caught up, so this week is just a break for you?

Let us know what you’ll be working on this week.

I’m still on last week’s–Organizing the office. I have a feeling that will go on all week… (I am sewing some, too.)

  2. Cindy says:

All of them could use more work, so I may not pick just one!

  3. Rose Marie says:

Did you ever buy one of those Flylady feather dusters? I did a long time ago when you and I were following her a lot. It really is worth the purchase. You can dust and barely realize that you spent time on it. You can dust without moving everything around and spraying with stuff and using a rag. computer monitors, stacks of books, jars of thread, pencil holders………….everything that sits around in the studio. Seconds and back to quilting!!

  4. I’m SO glad you assigned us this task this week as I didn’t finish any of them. Made a start, but now I can go back and finish one. LOL – it never ends.

I have too many drawers and I need to go through each one.
I won’t get anything else done this week because we leave for spring break band trip tomorrow EARLY morning.

Since I joined your challenge late, I am going to “try” to get caught up. My filing is done and organized!I even got my pantry closet organized. Donated a lot of food to our Church.

  7. Pam in KC says:

Clean out and organize one (desk) drawer desperately needs to be done and by the end of the weekend I hope I have a stack of fabric which needs to be put away because I’ll have all the pieces finally cut out for my current quilt.

  8. Elaine Walker says:

I really need to continue clearing off my cutting table. It somehow gets piled up very quickly!

  9. Karen says:

Looks like you made more than a dent in your paper piles. Good for you!
Since I have so much old paperwork to deal with, I’m trying to work at it 15 minutes a day and it is helping. So I’ll continue with paper clutter and work on some drawers for this week.

  10. Carol Smith says:

I am organizing magazines. I have a stack full to give away and a whole bunch more to get through.

  11. Deanna says:

Fabric creates dust–amazing amounts of dust. But, better the dust you can see than the dust buried under piles of other dusty objects. You are doing very well with your cleaning.

  12. Sue H says:

So glad you are giving us a catch up week – I totally forgot to work on last weeks project. I have a ledge in my sewing room that has become the new catch all for papers – patterns and stuff I don’t want to deal with. This week I am going to clean and organize it.

Good job on your paper work – I know you can do it!!!
