The Flurry

I’ve purposely been ignoring my blog for a while lately because I’ve been so busy with The Flurry.
I’m still fantastically unorganized, terrifically behind, and my To-Do list for next year is already “mind-bottling” (name that movie!).
We moved into our house one year ago today, and honestly, things are still pretty much like they were the day we moved in. Tragic, isn’t it?
Lots of our stuff is still in the boxes, and we’ve just been using it right out of the boxes. (We still haven’t found some things. I’m sure they’ll eventually turn up, right?)
While most of the upstairs construction is finished, there’s still a LOT of painting and detail work that needs doing, all the electrical wiring, and the floors in three rooms (that’s just the upstairs). It’s my hope that we make much better progress this year. Seriously, I think that with some of the major stuff finished, it’ll start going faster.
I’d love to get completely moved into my studio, so I can be more organized and productive. And I still have a few days left of this year to make some more progress. In fact, I did some painting just yesterday.
One thing I learned this year is that I still have a lot to learn about a lot of things, and being organized is one of the things that continues to elude me, year after year.
My grandmother was crazy organized, and somehow that gene skipped me. It hopped right over me and went to my youngest daughter, who is also crazy organized. I’ve been surrounded by it my entire life, but it just won’t rub off on me!
So I’ll keep trying . . . I think I’ll make 2014 my “Year of Organization” . . .
Organized or not, there’s a lot coming up around here in the next year, so stay tuned! We still have to wrap up this year’s 350 Blocks Project, and I’ll be back tomorrow with the details of this year’s Final Countdown, so check back soon.

Don’t feel bad “the Flurry” seems to be happening here too, and I am also hoping to get more organized this coming year…..especially the sewing area. So what did you paint yesterday?
You’ve just described how I feel, and I moved in 2.5 years ago! I’m blaming my sons who think my basement has a rotating door for their pleasure. Sigh.
Can’t wait for 2014. 2013 was not a really good year for us. But that’s all behind us now, we hope. I have a few projects in line to do. Hope I can make the 350. Will be starting out
Jan. 2 to begin my 350 project. Can’t wait. Hubby insists I wait till then. I do need a little time off. We are still living in boxes. We moved in with our daughter September 23 of this year and we are slowly and I do mean slowly finding stuff. We have the upstairs 3/4 done and our daughter has graciously given us the Master bedroom and another room for my quilting. Although it is a lot smaller then I am used to for a sewing room. It will do. I did however have to give up my 10 ft quilt frame. Oh well it is what it is. Hoppe you don’t mind my prattling. I am a chatter. My hubby says they named the Chatty Cathy doll after me. Who knows? Anyway glad your back to writing again. Can I send you pictures of my finished quilts as I do them or not? Up to you. Thanks
You’re definitely not the only one who has a Flurry at the end of the year! Good luck catching up on all of your projects and getting organized in 2014!
