The 12th Annual Final Countdown

Posted on December 28, 2020 by prairiemoonquilts in The Final Countdown

Wow! Our twelfth year doing this, and I’m STILL not organized! Haha!

I know a lot of folks are saying they will be glad to see this year behind them. Me, I’m of the mind that, just because the calendar is turning over, doesn’t mean things are going to automagically change instantly, or change for the better, even. But there is hope!

I saw a meme the other day that said: “You don’t realize how much of an introvert you are until a pandemic strikes, and your life doesn’t really change that much!” That would be me, and in some instances, it did change for the better! And even with the not-so-good things that came along, I’m not one to complain, because I’m always aware that somewhere, there are people who are way worse off than me.

These last few days of the year are always my last chance to wrap up as many loose ends as possible so I can start the new year off fresh. I know I need to keep working toward my ultimate goal of having things under control around here, so I’m doing this because I still NEED to!

I made good progress in 2020, probably because I stayed home a lot more, so I had more time here to work on things. I’d really like to think that it’s because my long-term efforts are finally paying off, and I’m finally getting things to where I want them to be. It really could be both, and I am planning to make even better progress throughout 2021. Would you like to join me?

If you’ve joined me for The Final Countdown before, I’ll be thrilled to have you join in again!

If you’re new here, welcome! I hope you’ll join in this time, as we try to start 2021 off a little more organized.

Here’s how it works . . .

  • • Beginning tomorrow, I’ll post a task for us to do each day for three days in a row; a different task each day.
  • • Your job is to do the task, if you so desire (totally optional). If it’s not a task you need to do, then you can pick any task you feel fits your situation better, and do that one instead.
  • • After you’ve done the task, leave a comment on the post that you did it, and how it went for you. If you want to write a blog post of your own and link back to it, that’s great — we all love stories, and photographic evidence! If you’re already so organized that you don’t even need to do the task, you can still leave a comment to be eligible for the prizes.
  • • I’m offering up a prize for each task, so be sure and leave a comment for each task that you complete. You’re only eligible for the prize for that task if you did the task and left your comment (or left a comment that you already had it done or didn’t need to do it). I try to make the prizes something that will help you with organizing, or things that you can use up, so as to not cause you more clutter or disorganization. If you do all three tasks, you’ll have three chances to win. How many you choose to do is completely up to you. Easy!

I’ll give you till January 7th to complete all the tasks and leave your comments. I’ll draw for the three winners late in the day on the 7th. That should give you time to take a good crack at all three tasks.

So there you have it — simple rules, and prizes!

I’ll post our first task tomorrow, so be sure to check back in. Or if you’re not subscribed already, you can subscribe to the “News From the Ranch” using the form at top right, so you’ll automatically be notified when the tasks are posted.

Are you ready?

This is good timing. Tomorrow is my birthday. I have been doing a lot of thinking. This year has been a bust on the quilting side of things. Really hardly if any quilting. There has been a lot going on with hubby, my mother, my mother in law. Lots of appts. When i did have time, no energy to do it. So, 2021 is going to happen. Everyone is well. I can take time again. First thing, clean my sewing room! Thanks for the challenge. This will be my first year participating. Good luck everyone!

This sounds great! For one thing, I always leave the Christmas tree up until Epiphany (which is Jan 6) Also, all our kids are COVID scared. I had it, and am finally back to normal and we are out of quarantine…. but my kids are still scared to come! I think they may wait til Easter…

I got a new cutting table from Santa, so mine got cleaned off the day after Christmas. This, of course, precipitated rearranging the entire side of the sewing room where it went, getting rid of a plastic drawer unit, and replacing it with some other storage options. It never ends.
