Last year, I found out that one of my readers, Sue, lives in Warrensburg, MO, and that she sometimes likes to shop at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop, which is my favorite place to shop.
We talked back and forth by email, and decided to pick a day to meet up at the quilt shop for fabric shopping and lunch. You just can’t go wrong with a day like that on the books!
Sue brought along her aunt, Janet, who is also a quilter and a reader of my blog, and we had a lot of fun! We shopped at Sew Sweet, ate lunch at Kaitlynn’s Deli, and had a wonderful visit. It’s always fun to meet other quilters — anytime!
Sue really surprised me by bringing along a quilt top she had pieced from one of my patterns! She used the “Prairie Patches” pattern, which is a free pattern you can find right HERE.
Her color scheme (and those homespuns — red!) makes it very rustic, and it looks so warm and cozy:
She sent me these pictures of it finished, and said I could show it to you. It makes me wanna just snuggle up in it!
It would look fantastic in my old farmhouse! And it’s big enough, My Cowboy could even use it without complaining. Maybe I need to make another one of these . . .
Sue and Janet are both participants in the 350 Blocks Project, and they make lots of blocks!
I’m trying to plan another meet-up day (or two) with them at the shop sometime this year. If you live anywhere close, you should join us!
It does look cozy. How nice that you were able to get together.
Sounds like the perfect day out; how fun! What a wonderful, warm looking quilt. I love it! Great job, Sue!
Thanks Shelly – yes we need to get another day on the calendar. :).
Shelly sound like fun pick a date
Sounds like fun. I love her quilt! Is that all homespun, I can’t really tell. It would look awesome in your house.
Nice quilt, Sue. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like a great road trip, Shelly. Name it. I think it might be fun to meet others who share an interest in your blog and quilting, of course. 🙂
thanks
I would love to meet you there someday.
What a perfectly cozy quilt! Sounds like a great time for all of you and how fun to see one of your patterns in person 🙂
