The Event is over . . . sweetsewfullbutton

It was so much fun!

Jessica and Jeanette made the entire weekend so wonderful. The decorations were so cute. JessicaJeanette

They had a theme: Quilter’s Paradise. Everything was decorated around the theme, and even the trash cans were wearing hula skirts!Event2

There were paper lanterns and fans and umbrellas all over the room, and a photo booth with props. I missed my chance at the photo booth, but by golly, I won’t next year!

During the entire event, there was a Free Sew room, where you could set up your machine and work on whatever you wanted to while you weren’t in a workshop . . . or eating . . . or shopping.FreeSewRoom

Friday evening, we were treated to a trunk show by Natalia Bonner, of Piece ‘n’ Quilt. Wonderful quilts! She showed a lot of the quilts she’s done for Moda Bake Shop and for her book, Beginner’s Guide to Free Motion Quilting.Natalia

There were tropical-themed snacks and drinks out at all times throughout the event. You could just graze yourself right into a sugar coma! Event1

The quilt shop was right next door, so when you needed something (and you did need something), you could just hop over and shop for a bit.

Dangerously for me, there’s also an antique store just downstairs, so at one point I snuck down and bought a table for my sewing room!

At dinner on Saturday evening, there were cupcakes decorated with teddy bears lying on the beach with bikinis, and Hawaiian cake. Jeanette had even made a palm tree out of pineapples! All the details were just fantastic! And did I mention that we got goody bags when we checked in? We did! And there were door prizes throughout the event as well. I’m not sure I’m fully explaining how fun and wonderful this event is.

My classes went really well, with lots of happy stitchers. I’m excited to see their quilts when they’re done. It’s always fun to see the fabric choices that other quilters choose to make your patterns from. This is my Greek Cross class:MyClass1

And here’s my What the Hex? class hard at work. Well, except for Norma, who seems to have gone missing momentarily. And it really wasn’t that dark in there, I don’t know why the picture looks like it is:MyClass2

Saturday evening we were treated to a trunk show by Monique Dillard of Open Gate Quilts. Wow! What a display of wonderful quilts. Monique

Sunday was more free sewing time. My sister has already finished the quilt top she started in her workshop! Our sister-in-law was also there, and we asked her if she’d finished hers yet, and got the response: “Are you outta your &%*$ mind?!?!?!” So I guess not . . .

The Sweet Sewfull Event happens every year, the third weekend in July, at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop, so mark your calendars for next year — I already have!
