Sew Sisters Quilting Bee

My pals from the annual Gruber’s Bloggers Retreat have started a Quilting Bee with each other!

We’re calling it the Sew Sisters Quilting Bee.

And I’ve made my first block!

Cindy from Live a Colorful Life went first, and she requested a Dresden Plate block.

We were to use clear brights and a black/white center circle. Cindy recommended THIS tutorial, and the use of Darlene Zimmerman’s Easy Dresden Tool.

I have owned this tool for a long time and never tried it. This was the perfect opportunity, and it was super super easy!

I love this block. I’ve decided that I’m going to make 2 of every Bee Block, so I can send one off and keep one for myself! I should have enough for a sampler quilt when we’re all done.

Cindy also requested a signature block from each of us, and recommended THIS tutorial for those:

Of course, I had to use cowboy fabric for mine!

So far, the Bee is off to a wonderful start, and if you have the urge to make a Dresden Plate, I highly recommend trying it — this was so much fun!

Love it! I have my fabrics cut out and ready to sew. This is the first time I’m using my template too. So handy, isn’t it. Love your cowboy fabric for your signature block – great idea.
