September Procrastination Challenge

Posted on September 8, 2015 by prairiemoonquilts in Challenges

Yesterday was a holiday, and I barely touched my computer, so I’m posting this month’s Procrastination Challenge a day late.

I fizzled out worse than ever on this past month’s challenge. I was supposed to work on my Checkerboard quilt, and it would have made a great leader-ender project, but I couldn’t find a single piece of it!

I looked where I thought some of the pieces were, but they weren’t there. I have no idea what I’ve done with them. I know the bulk of the project is still packed from when we moved. Sad, huh?

I did not have enough time to devote to continued searching or time to do any further unpacking, so I gave up — perhaps too easily, but I’ve been hit hard with deadlines for this entire fall.

Therefore, I’m not sure I’ll make much progress on a personal UFO this month, either, but I’m at least going to try.

For this month, I’ve chosen #10.

2015list

Number 10 on my list is my Big Bang quilt. It’s a wonderful pattern by Kaffe Fassett, and I’m making it from all William Morris prints, and I’m hand piecing it.

Again, do you think I even know where it is? I don’t.

I’m going to have to stage a hunt and search mission just to locate the box it’s in before I can work on it. The good thing is, I know it’s all together and contained in that one box, so once I find it, there’ll be no other searching. All the parts and pieces should be there.

And when I find it, I’ll let you know exactly which pattern it is and from which book of his. You might wanna make one, too!

The bigger question is: Will I have any time to sit and do any hand piecing?

How about you?

Are you still working on whittling down the UFOs?

I sure hope you’re having better luck than I am!

Maybe you couldn’t find the Checkerboard quilt because you finished it and just forgot 🙂

There’s a reason why it is a Procrastination List – because we have procrastinated more than once on these projects. I did not finish mine either. I told myself it was because I need to buy the backing and was waiting for the big sale in October at Hunter Heirloom Quilting and was going to buy it then. Although, I did go shopping three times this month and buy fabric for other projects. I also bought backing for a different quilt and loaded it this weekend.

I did completed another project that was on my list instead – it is a travel sewing case that I bought 3 years ago. I am going to my aunt’s in a couple of weeks so I can’t wait to use it. I also completed a couple of more pages in my Quiet Book that was June’s project – only four more pages to go and Christmas is just around the corner.

I did draw the sewing caddy as this month’s project so I will mark it off and continue to work on the Quiet Book. I thought the backing I bought the other day looked nice with my Women of the Bible quilt so maybe I will work on it too!

I have to admit I’m 4 months behind, if you count this month. I don’t know if that Spring Jelly Roll is going to get done or not. But, I am going to be working on things again.
    Thanks for doing the challenge.

Hey I am still working on my drawer! Shhhh…..

Have your cowboy dude bring you a box at a time. He can even open it for you and you can sweetly ask him to put it near where it belongs. If he does this for you here and there you will find it all sooner or later.

  6. Life does get in the way, doesn’t it. But no matter, little by little, we will get there – a pile of done UFOs. I’m working on three and they are taking forever. Mainly, because I can’t deal with heat very well and the activities of summer. Hope to do better this month. You will too! Once you find it – hehe.

I’m sure you’ll find that checkerboard quilt when you least expect it. That’s what I’ve found, when I’ve been doing all these challenges. It’s been great to find things that I’d totally forgotten about!
I didn’t make any headway with the sewing on August’s UFO, but I did make some decisions on it, like to scrap the setting blocks, not make any more blocks and change the whole design of it. Now I want to finish it for a Christmas gift, so I’m excited about working on it again.
For September’s UFO, I’ll pick #10 on my list, too, which is a partially done dolly for my little girl.
