September 350 Blocks Report

Posted on October 5, 2015 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

I meant to get this ready to post by itself while I was gone cruising, but time got away from me. I think it’s wonderful how you all just started sending me your reports anyway — thanks for looking out for me and taking the lead!

I’m back home after a wonderful trip which I’ll tell you all about later; for now, it’s time to get the block reports updated!

I almost lost track of how many blocks I made in September. I’m calling my total for this month 17.

I made a block for a group comfort quilt for a friend in need, and naturally, didn’t take a picture of it. Why is that part so hard for me to remember to do?

I’m counting the blocks I made for this quilt as 16, since it is made in blocks, but I counted each pieced setting triangle section as just one block each. You can read more about this quilt and the book it’s from over HERE, if you haven’t already.

I did a few more, but if I count them now, I’ll lose track, so I’m waiting till the quilts are done, and I’ll count them all at once (which might be next year, at the rate I’m going!).

How about you?

Lots of you have already reported in, since I’m late getting this posted, but some of you I have yet to hear from . . . come on, it’s time to tell all!

I’ve updated the Project page with the totals for October — 30 more blocks for a year-to-date total of 290 — we’re getting closer! (And I keep getting further behind!)

Comment below or email me and give me your numbers. If you’ve already sent them, thank you, and please check the page later and make sure I got you added in. I don’t want to miss any for anyone — every block counts!

The prize winner for August is Yvonne H. Woohoo!

I’ve slowly begun putting together the prize packages for the grand finale at the end of the year, and there’s gonna be some good stuff in them, so keep those reports coming in, and keep on sewing!

At least you remembered to take a photo of this one quilt. =) I record mine on a piece of paper so I don’t lose track, and I also post on the blog, so I can double check what I included during the month, and what I didn’t. =)

  6. Pam in KC says:

For September I’m counting 20 blocks for the backing which I think I like better than the front of the quilt. There are still bonus HST stashed away for some future project.

  16. Rose Marie says:

    Well, Barb has me intimidated……………
I did do 38 blocks this month. Way to go, Barb!!

    • Barb B. says:

Thanks, Rose Marie, but you’ll probably whip up on me this month. I haven’t set foot in the studio yet. And it isn’t looking too promising for the rest of the month, either.

I had to finish about 30 small projects for my sister for a raffle last month, so I was under a deadline to get that done and it sure helped me in the “blocks” department. Then I finished a bunch of blocks for the Bonnie Hunter challenge quilt in early September (nothing like waiting until the last minute). I’ve got a couple of other quilts going at the same time, plus I had the blocks from the BH retreat.

Sewing every day really makes a difference. Once I rest up from my vacation, I’ll sew some more.

I am trying to finish a lot of UFO’s but that usually doesn’t mean making blocks, it means setting blocks together, sashings, quilting, etc. I don’t know if I will be able to do more in October of not.

  25. Betty K says:

With my move end of August and Sept that kept me down. Then while unpacking I had a heart attack (or event as the doctor’s called it??). So I have done 0 (ZERO) blocks. I am hoping I will start back here in Oct but have not yet.

  26. Linda Kowalski says:

Finally remembered to check in with 24 blocks for Sept.

  27. Heather J says:

I made 73 blocks in September.

  28. Karen says:

66 blocks for September. I have been on vacation most of October so I know my block number will be really small.

  29. Susan says:

We are remodeling our main level, so we spent the month of September clearing out all rooms, including my quilting room. No blocks completed for September.
