Round Robin, Round One

Rose Marie and I have finished Round One on our new Round Robin quilts!

You can click HERE to read more about our personal challenge.

Here’s a reminder of what I started with:

And this is what Rose Marie added to it!

I must say she did not have an easy job, given the color palette I started out with. I would have gotten stymied right out the gate, but it didn’t deter Rose Marie one bit! I’m amazed at her choice of background fabric — it’s a wonderful choice!

Here is what Rose Marie started with:

And this is what I added to it:

Her color palette is very Laundry Basket Quilts this time, and I had just finished the Sew Sweet BOM using almost these same colors, and all I had left was little scraps, so I put them to good use!

I used one of the Snack Set Template sets from Victoria Findlay Wolfe to make the little stars. The rest of it? Well, it was a trial. I was evidently completely distracted while working on this, and even tho I made a good plan and a map for myself, I still ended up cutting some of it wrong, and had quite a time getting it put together. The stars were the easy part, thanks to the templates! (Which you can get HERE, if you’re interested. There are also other designs to choose from. The stars are from Set #2.)

So now we each have our own piece back, and it’s time to add to it again. Ideas are percolating for me. Rose Marie says she wants to add appliqué to hers at some point — see how opposite we’re being this time? I have no desire to add any more appliqué to mine this time — haha!

Please go read the first post on this HERE. And I encourage you to take up the challenge with a friend of yours (or two). It really pushes you out of your comfort zone, and might possibly make you try things you normally wouldn’t. I’m excited to get to show you Round Two when we swap again!

Looking good. I can see applique in the corners using the center motif (or part of it) in yours. Yes, I can see a flower border in Rose Marie’s. Our guild is doing a round robin right now. I tried it twice and sadly didn’t have a good time because my partners (we had four in a group) weren’t on time/didn’t do their round. It’s a serious commitment.
