The modern quilt guild I belong to, the Pecan Valley Quilt Guild, hosted a member retreat this past weekend. We met at the Comfort Inn in Chillicothe, MO.
If you are in that area, and ever need to host an event, I highly recommend this place. Everyone there was so helpful and friendly, and the site is just wonderful. We had a huge space to spread out and work in. We had a corner table set up with snacks, and they even brought us a mini-fridge to use while we were there. And they supplied us with ironing boards!
There were several of us in attendance. We’re a small guild, but nearly half our members were at the retreat. I know there were several others who would have liked to be there, too, but had scheduling conflicts.
We sewed Friday afternoon, all day Saturday, and a big part of the day on Sunday. Such a good time.
I also leader/endered on my Scrap Jar Stars quilt, and still didn’t seem to make any progress.
Here’s what some of the members were working on . . .
Donna worked on a baby quilt that I missed getting a shot of, Bev worked on a selvage quilt that will be really cool when she gets it done. Jessica and Amy were both working on Tula Pink quilts. Jeanette worked on a pieced quilt for the next Paula Party at the Sew Sweet Quilt Shop.
The Quilt Police even paid us a visit. Officer Andrew gave us all citations for various infractions. Jean got in trouble for littering, Katy for polygamy, and I was cited for taking on too many projects all at once. Can you imagine?
I felt I was above the law, however, because I had previously been crowned “Queen of Blocks” at the retreat. I even got a tiara. And was then cited for removing the tiara when leaving the meeting area. That Officer Andrew!
As usual, it was over too soon, and I can hardly wait for the next one!
