Each quarter, a portion of the proceeds from sales of Prairie Moon Quilts patterns, kits, and handmade items is donated to charity. These are some of the folks we help out.

Ronald McDonald House Charities

The Ronald McDonald House Charities creates and supports programs that help children. In my immediate area, The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri provides a home for families of hospitalized children to stay while their loved one is in the hospital. For four years running, I made a quilt based on their theme, for them to auction off at their annual fundraiser.

CowboyPoetry.com

Prairie Moon Quilts is a proud supporter of CowboyPoetry.com. Each year in April, CowboyPoetry.com sponsors National Cowboy Poetry Week across the nation. Check them out for pictures from the real West, cowboy poetry from all over, and news about fun family events in your area.

BASICS Quilt Gather

The Bumble Beans BASICS Quilt Gather is a project started by my good friend, Victoria Findlay-Wolfe, of Bumble Beans, from New York. When asked if she could come up with 700 quilts for the BASICS Housing folks to donate to families they were placing into housing, she didn’t even bat an eye. Victoria put out a call to quilters everywhere, and the quilts started pouring in. I myself have donated quilt blocks and several quilts, and also my longarm quilting services to help them out, and I’m not done yet. Since this is an ongoing project, you can help, too. Click the link above to find out how.

ReliefShare

ReliefShare is a non-profit organization that collects and distributes items for families in need, and particularly babies. They provide household items and toys to families, among other things, but they also provide quilts and clothing to hospitals so that they can provide these things to families that need them. So far, I have quilted 4 quilts for ReliefShare, and I have plans for at least 10 more. Since I also knit, I’m working on some baby cocoons for them as well. Check out their site and see if there is anything you’d be interested in helping them with.
