Orange Sweet Rolls

I’m reasonably sure you’ve all heard of The Pioneer Woman, and you also know that she has a cooking show on Food Network. I know this, and I don’t even have TV (and therefore, can never watch her show, which breaks my heart). I love the Pioneer Woman!

Yesterday, she posted on Facebook that she had made Orange Sweet Rolls on her show, and you can find the recipe right HERE. I love Orange Sweet Rolls!

But anything that involves yeast, letting things rise, and zesting an orange peel also involves me spending more time in the kitchen than I’d like to. Still, I was tempted . . .

And . . . as I whacked open a can of Pillsbury’s Orange Sweet Rolls and popped them in the oven this morning for breakfast, My Cowboy says:

“You and the Pioneer Woman have so much in common, it’s scary!”

As I’m choking on my coffee, he continues:

“You both live with a Cowboy . . . on a cattle ranch.

You both have a Basset hound.

You both make homemade orange sweet rolls for breakfast.

You both write books.

You’re both bloggers.”

For the record, my “Basset hound” is really a beagle — he just sort of resembles a Basset in many ways. His name is Casey, the sweet little thing.

And did I mention that my Orange Sweet Rolls came from a can? Um, yeah . . .

I’m still laughing . . .

All the way to my sewing room!

Which means that I have this year’s Cowboy Boot stocking almost ready . . . so stay tuned.

And if you have the time, try that recipe . . . especially if you’re my neighbor — then you can run right over with a piping-hot pan of them to share!

You have cracked me up! My rolls would be from the can also, but I would be glad to share. I spend as little time as possible in the kitchen. My Bassett hound is really 3 Dachshunds. No Cowboy, darn. Hugs,

Recipe looks great! Thanks for sharing and let’s keep those men in the dark as much as possible.

LOL, your husband is funny! So are you. The yeast and bread part isn’t that hard with a good mixer, like Kitchen Aid or Bosch. The zesting of the oranges is a little picky. But the results are SO worth it. Yes, Pillsbury is good. Home made is even better! But you keep right on doing what you’re doing, because it works for you, and because you create in so many other ways. =)

  6. These look fabulous!!! I need to make these now and freeze them for Thanksgiving!

Too funny. I have a great recipe for these, from my mother-in-law. Usually I have to go to her house to have them. And those things in the can? Delish, especially if you’re the one who gets to ice them (and eat all the extra frosting). Yum.

Pioneer woman is not above cracking open a can of pillbury rolls, cutting them in quarters and rolling them in butter and blue cheese while they bake. Check her website if you don’t believe me. đŸ™‚ BTW they are delish!!
Orange rolls are just one more reason to miss my MIL! I don’t have cable either so no shows for me!

The Cowboy lives in that lovely la-la land of love, doesn’t he. Whatever you do, don’t wake him up. A man in love is a joy. Oh, and a comedy also.
