October Procrastination Challenge

How did you all do on your September projects?

I’m sure you can pretty much guess how mine went.

I did find it! And look how pretty and neatly I have it all packaged up:

BigBang2

The pattern is Big Bang:

BigBang1

From this book by Kaffe Fasset:

I started this quilt at least 4 years ago, maybe more. Did I get to sew on it this past month? No, I did not. Much like all the other months of this year that I have not gotten to work on things of my own.

But I’m not giving up, darn it! I will forge ahead . . .

This month, I’ve chosen #7 on my list, which is my 36-Patch quilt. Also started several years ago, all this one needs is to be quilted and bound. If I can manage to catch up on my customer backlog (which is unlikely) I might get the chance to quilt it. I’m not planning anything difficult on it, so it should be quick, right? We shall see.

What will you be working on this month?

I think your project must be way more than 4 years old. We used to talk about Kaffe Fassett a lot before I retired and that has been 8 years ago this summer. Should we start dating those UFO’s? I just started putting together a set of blocks that I won at the 2005 State Quilters Retreat………..that makes them 10 years old this month. Just sayin. That is my anti-procrastination project for this month.

    I got nothing done. 🙁
But, this #7 is my black, red and white quilt. I love these colors and seem to be able to do a little quilting now, so maybe it will be done this month.

You talk about ufo’s. I finished 2 twin quilts for my boys last year that I started when they were 7 and 9. One passed away 14 years ago at 30 and the other one is 48. Don’t put off too long with your ufo’s. You never know what the next day will bring. Especially if it’s for a loved one. Sorry for the sadness, but it is so true.
I have a lot of quilts to finish before I do anything else. 7 just waiting for me. Luckily my husband said he will do the easier ones for me. Gotta love that man. I’m so happy that he has fallen in love with quilting. 😉

I’m plowing ahead on my UFOs w/my Crazy Challenge II quilts. I’m quilting my Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler Blue & Brown swap from 2009 and hope to finish it in the next day or two. Then I’ll work on a “new” UFO that I started in May and plan to finish out the month by quilting Orange Crush from 2008(?) and Aiming for Accuracy from 2013. At least that’s the plan.

So I didn’t work on the Women of the Bible quilt again this month but I completed another page of the quiet book – maybe I will have done by Christmas.

I drew #3 which is a panel of the Golden Book The Saggy Baggy Elephant which I bought 4 years ago. I have everything to make the quilt just haven’t started.

I got my Sept project done.Yay they will be birthday girls for Oct. bithdays. The hubs picked #7 for Oct. which is apron panels and I have already done one. I’m off to a good start.
    Thanks for the challenge.

  7. I’m going to work on a wip from 2009. It’s a Fons and Porter Jubilee quilt in 2003. It’s not like I’m making their 12 block version – only 4 in mine. We’ll see.

  8. Ok, so I’ve been hopeless in the procrastination challenge, have finished only two UFOs so far, but in addition I’ve made five quilts start to finish this year which is a record for me. All were gifts, so rather than lament over what I didn’t finish, I’ll celebrate what I did…and kudos to all of us for trying!
