It’s a brand new year — 2013. My Cowboy and I were talking the other day about how when we were back in school, even just the year 2000 seemed so far away, and now here it is already 2013 — time really flies!
It’s past time to make New Year’s Resolutions, but I’ve been a tad busy since Christmas, with moving and all, and besides, I like to call my resolutions “Goals”, and I set goals year-round just whenever I think of them.
But I absolutely love the start of a new year. It’s like being given a fresh clean notebook to write in for an entire year and see what I can make of it.
This year I’ve decided to use a “13” theme for my list. I’m going to list 13 things I’d like to accomplish this year, and see if I can get them done. And in no particular order, here they are:
1 ) Read at least 13 books.
2 ) Finish at least 13 of my oldest UFOs.
3 ) Publish 13 new designs, as patterns, kits, or tutorials.
4 ) Lose at least 13 pounds.
5 ) Attend 13 quilting events (shows, workshops, retreats, etc.)
6 ) Clean out and organize 13 bins of fabric.
7 ) Knit at least 13 items (scarves, prayer shawls, afghans, etc.)
8 ) Refinish 13 areas of my house.
9 ) Make at least 13 charity quilts.
10 ) Gain 13 new longarm customers.
11 ) Learn 13 new things.
12 ) Try at least 13 new recipes.
13 ) Finish 13 of my antique quilt tops into finished quilts.
There! That’s quite a list, so I’d best get started, huh? Especially since I’m off to a bit of a late start as it is. I’ve put up a page where you can check my progress HERE, so I’ll be updating it as I check things off the list . . . and I’m sure there will be periodic blog posts about what I’m working on that’s getting me closer to reaching these goals. It’s gonna be an exciting year, don’t you think?
What about you?
