June Procrastination Challenge

Posted on June 1, 2015 by prairiemoonquilts in Challenges

Can I just begin by saying I’m really being terrible at this?

Here it is time for June’s project already, and I haven’t finished one single thing on my list yet!

I have moved a couple of them further along, but still — I had hoped to have more done by now.

Anyway, for the month of June, I have chosen #1 on my list:

2015list

Number 1 on my list is my Sunbonnet Sue baby quilt:

sbsuefinal

I’ve had this top done for years, and it’s in the to-be-quilted pile, as are several of the others on my list. The pattern was one offered by Keepsake Quilting many years ago, but as I recall, I changed the borders on mine so I could use up more scraps.

One of the reasons this quilt took me so long was that I had all the blocks made, but then I lost one of the Sues. I kept waiting, thinking it would turn up, and I searched and searched, but never found it. I finally broke down and made another one, and then, naturally, the lost one turned up shortly thereafter! Isn’t that always the way it works?

Since I’m hoping for June to be a catch-up month, and this is just a baby quilt, maybe I can squeeze it in. Time will tell — I could be back next month with the same sad report!

How about you?

Did you finish a project last month?

Do you have another one to pick out and work on this month?

You could also incorporate it into a fun label or the backing somehow, even though that would mean more seams on the back.

    I love Sunbonnet Sue!

No I made some progress with last months challenge, but did not finish it. Hymmm which one to pick for this month…..

I finished quilting and binding on the quilt from last month – just as I was finishing my niece stopped by and fell in love with it. Needless to say she is the proud owner of it now but I forgot to take a picture so I cannot share.

This months project is a Quiet Book for my little granddaughter Mavis. I bought everything to make it two years ago – if I do not get started on it she will out grow it before it is done.

I have to say I did not finish April and May’s challenge. But, they are on my list. April’s just needs quilting.
I need a new wall hanging in my family room, and it needs to be a western theme, so maybe this is THE one. I think it was just a small wall hanging and I might have to adjust it to fit the wall I want it on.
We are going to get it done this month!

  5. Finish? We are supposed to FINISH our quilts???!!! Who made up that stupid rule??? I thought we were supposed to just keep buying more fabric and turning it into flimsies! Don’t finished flimsies count? Go for an FF (Finished Flimsy)!! 🙂

I’m not sure if I picked something on my list or not, but I got finally Orca Bay quilted. Perhaps this month the plan should be to ship it to the new owner. But have you ever tried to find a box big enough, but not too big, for a saxaphone & quilt?
Actually this month I’m going to get Sew Scrappy done — at least the top. Started it in April 2013 and it been on my list to finish ever since. I might even try to squeeze finishing the quilting on Diamond Links. My husband’s nephew eloped over the weekend and he’s the only one on my husband’s side that doesn’t have a quilt yet.

  7. Such a cute quilt, Shelly. I remember seeing that one in Keepsake Quilting. I pick a WIP or two to work on during the month, but I’ve learned best for me to make progress than shoot for a finish because Life is sure to get in the way. Thus, I’m not disappointed unless I make NO progress.

I may review my WIPs again and see which I’m no longer excited about. Think I’ll pass it on or donate to my guild – that is another way to get it off a list.

On my list I have managed to complete 3 projects so far this year. Not happy with myself as I have start more than 3 extra projects. So I have pick 3 quilts to complete in June as they are the closest to being finished. So I will see how I go.

I actually completed two ufo’s in May. My total for the year is up to four finishes. I am really wanting to start.a couple new projects at thr retreat I am going to this month and MADE myself complete something before starting any new projects. Your ideas have certainly helped:-)

  11. Ranch Wife says:

Hey, you made progress! You sewed something! That gets high marks in my book.
I’m a professional procrastinator…wish it paid better. 🙂 Still, I did manage to get a few UFO’s finished. Started binding Charleston Pavement tonight!

I love your Sunbonnet Sue. I hope you can get’er done!I’d love to make one like that someday.
I didn’t make any progress this month either. But I’m going to pick #11 on my list, which is a scrappy log cabin type of quilt that I started years ago. Even if I get a few blocks done, that’s more than I’ve done in years!

  13. I’ve only finished two of the quilts on my list, but I have another nearly finished. I’ve been so absorbed in other priority quilts (for granddaughters and new babies), plus new projects I just had to start, but the year isn’t yet half finished so I’m not giving up hope!
