January Friday Night Sew-In

Last night was the Friday Night Sew-In for January, and as usual, I almost missed it, but got in on it just in the nick of time!FNSIButton

I had big ideas about getting a lot done, but I was so tired, it was like I was moving in slow motion.

I tried to start at 6:00, but didn’t really get started until 6:30. Then I felt like I was all thumbs, and really, I can’t tell you much about my sewing time last night. I don’t even remember what time I quit sewing.

I know I got a couple quilt tops a bit further along, but those two I can’t show you because they don’t belong to me. I also loaded the next customer quilt on the longarm.

BUT . . . I also finally got to make a block for myself! My first block of the year for myself (yes, I’m off to a late start).

This is our guild exchange block for January. Sandra provided the center square, and we were to frame it into a 12″ block and will bring them all back to our February meeting. GuildBlock

I can hardly believe the meeting isn’t until February 11, and I already have my block done. The trick will be still being able to find the block on the 11th when it’s time to go to the meeting!

I’m slowly getting a tidget more organized and able to sew a little more comfortably every day. Having resigned myself to the fact that it’s going to be awhile before my upstairs studio is finished and ready to move into, I’m trying to make the downstairs a bit more convenient to work in for now. Every day I find a few more things I need and get a bit more organized. And none too soon, as I have lots of deadlines coming up.

Did you sew last night? What did you manage to get done? There were quite a few involved in the Sew-In. You can click over to Heidi’s blog and check them all out.

I got a late start also. Did not get started until 8 and I think I quit around 10. But I decided that was two more hours than nothing. Love the block!

I was working on a deadline to finish stitching on a crazy quilt border, but it was my usual Friday night and I totally spaced that it was FSNI. I finished today and will have it up on my blog on Monday. I have to sew it on Monday morning. I love your block. I was trying to analyze why, and I’m not sure, but it’s very appealing to me.

Glad you are getting things a little more organized! I find it hard to work when things are too messy…which they are most of the time around here! LOL

Your block looks great. I love the colors and am sure glad you finally got a little time to work on something of yours. Except it sounds like you don’t get to keep it either!

  4. I love your block! I didn’t get to go to FNSI last night, as I had work I needed to attend to. We had a guest speaker in on Friday afternoon, and we all took him out to dinner. So, I missed my Friday night group. 🙁 I felt all thumbs when I started sewing today, too. Weird. I did get 5 blocks done today for a new quilt I started. Very simple and easy blocks, but I’ll take them. How do I report my block progress for 365 Blocks? 🙂

Cute fabric and congrats on finishing your first block of the year! 😀

A little is much better than nothing, and that block is a beautiful way to start the year. I would suggest pinning it to any handy set of curtains in the house, if you have any, to keep from losing it.
