Date Night With My Cowboy

A few weeks ago, before I went to Quilt Market, when I’d been sewing non-stop with very few breaks, My Cowboy decided that I needed a break, and that I should go check the momma cows with him one evening.

It was kinda cool out, so I bundled up and went along. It’s calving season, so the mommas need to be checked on more frequently, and usually, there’s at least one new baby since the last time they were checked.

This was toward the tail end of the calving, so I was treated to the sight of all the new little babies, eating and playing and generally being just as cute and adorable as baby calves can be.

Like this little sweetie:Cows3

Or this one:Cows7

Or this one:Cows8

Or how about this one, with milk all over his face?Cows6

Or wait . . . this one! I wanna squeeze this one so hard!Cows5

The mommas keep a close eye on you, just in case.Cows2

And then there’s the poor momma who’s left to babysit half the crew while the others are off eating.Cows1

And the kindergarten class of Fall 2013:Cows4

And a couple of orneries playing in the brush pile:Cows9

I just think every one of them is the cutest baby ever!

And it did me some good to get some fresh air and take a break. The way the weather’s turning, we won’t have many more nice evenings outside this year.

Not many things sweeter than baby calves — unless it’s baby kittens!
