Are You Ready?

2015 is less than a week away!

I love the start of a new year. It’s like being given a fresh slate.

I tally up what I did with the one just past (never enough, it seems), and make plans for what to do with the one ahead of me. It’s like getting to travel down a road I’ve never been on before!

God willing, this year’s road will take me on some exciting adventures. I hope yours does, too.

Several of you have asked, and here’s the answer:

Yes! I’m once again hosting The Final Countdown this year. It starts Monday (the 29th) — so get ready! There will be a daily task for you to do that is meant to help you get organized and ready to start 2015 off on the right foot — plus prizes!

So not only will you get some organizing and preparation under your belt before 2014 comes to an end, you also have a chance to win some goodies!

We’re also just about to wrap up the 2014 350 Blocks Project, also with some really great prizes. There will be a grand prize, plus 3 smaller prize packages, so get ready for that, too.

Just to have it out of the way before the final block report, I’m announcing the November 350 Blocks Project prize winner right now. It is: Charlotte!

Congratulations, Charlotte!

Winning a monthly prize does not exclude you from the grand prizes at the end, so take heart! We’ll be reporting our final totals on January 1st, so watch for that post to appear.

Also, if you’re looking for a new project for 2015, please join me for the Kansas City Star’s 2015 Block of the Month — you can read about that HERE.

Meanwhile, steel yourselves for The Final Countdown, and check in on Monday for your first task!

As silly as it might sound, I woke up thinking about the Final Countdown challenge this morning. It was such an exciting thought that I went to work cleaning and organizing a section of my sewing room before everyone else was awake. It is something I look forward to each year. Let others start the year bloated with overeating and hung over. I like to start it organized and with an overly ambitious list of things to do for the coming year. Thanks for hosting again!

  2. OK, I’m game. I’m ready to join your challenge for the upcoming year and hope my little thimble and needle can keep up! Love what you are doing and Happy New Year everybody!

So glad to hear you’re hosting this again! It’s such a great way to start off the New Year. I’ll be looking forward to it!

Count me in….for both the challenge and the KC Star bom. I would like to have my sewing area more organized and to get my list of UFOs wittled down.

I’ve been in a quilting funk for a few months now, so perhaps the quilting countdown will shake me loose. Can wait to see what you have in store for us.

I’m definitely ready to move on! =) Looking forward to the coming posts on here, too.

You know how much I like making lists and checking off things. My quilter’s diary is actually a multipage to-do list. I love moving things from one page to another. I will really love the challenge – hope I have enough time to do them.

Aren’t you good, getting all organized before the beginning of the new year? I am in that big-relief-just-met-my-final-deadline-of-the-year mode. I had to overnight a quilt that is due tomorrow, but the kind lady at the post office promised it would be at its destination by 3:00 tomorrow. Hallelujah. I feel like I’ve lost 20 pounds. đŸ˜‰

With that said, because I am still breathing that big sigh of relief, I am not doing the organizing tasks along with all of you, but I AM organizing. My workroom has become something of an obstacle course. I justify it by saying I’m getting extra exercise just getting from my machine to the ironing board (lots of hurdles and skinny-space walking). I’m afraid the clean-up will take more than a few days, though…yikes!!

Happy New Year! Here’s to clean and organized spaces and TONS of productivity. (BTW, 13 blocks for me this month–and yes, that DID make a quilt.)

I have had a very productive December. I joined a December mystery quilt along and have made 179 blocks. Believe it or not, Christmas still happened at our house. Now to start cleaning off the cutting table to start the New Year off right.
