Sewing a Village

My friend, Rose Marie, made a little house quilt last fall, and when she showed it to me, I fell in love with it! It’s so cute, and such a great use of scraps. I wanted to make one, but decided I don’t have time.

Then . . . Stitch Supply Co. announced that they were planning a Sew-Along for this very quilt, and I decided that if I stick to their schedule, it might be doable. They even have a printable chart to help you keep track of all the houses as you sew them.

Best of all, it only started this past Monday, so I’m not even behind yet!

I have decided to use my vintage fabric scraps for this quilt. I’m pairing them with plain unbleached muslin for my background to give it a completely old-fashioned look. I’m sure it won’t make a dent in my vintage stash, but I’m telling myself it will help! Teehee!

Besides, if nothing else, it will help with my block count in the 350 Blocks Project!

I have my first 8 houses cut out:

And have sewn one house so far:

I have until Sunday to get the first 8 finished. They’re quick to sew, so surely I can manage that, even with all the bottle feedings and other messes I’m cleaning up daily!

It does help if you’re on Instagram for this sew-along, so you can win prizes along the way, so follow Stitch Supply Co. HERE on IG. You can get all the information and the schedule on their website HERE, along with the free printable chart to help you keep track, if you’d like to join in.

Will you be sewing a village, too?

I want to live in a warm climate. That said, I am sewing today. I declared a “no purchase of fabric February.”February 1…. Strangely weird. Some one gave me some fabric last Wednesday. I checked with my buddies, who okayed it I declared I would not BUY any fabric….. phew. … if was cute halloween stuff….

Shelly, I have seen this and thought how fun. I thought you were also doing another BOM I wanted to join in but you had to call the shop you couldn’t log in, they were closed when I called. I can’t find the post. If I cannot join the other one maybe I will join you in this. My friend gifted mea bolt of muslin. Are there different qualities of muslin? I am not sure would hate to use the wrong thing all that work.
