November 350 Blocks Report

Posted on December 4, 2017 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

I was at a retreat all this past weekend, and as I was sewing away, my friend Linda asked me, “Did you post this month’s block report?”

Completely shocked, I had to answer NO! I had not even realized it was the end of the month, I’ve been so busy traveling and doing other things!

So I’m a few days late this time, but here we go . . .

How DID you do in November with block making?

I got nothin’.

I’ve spent too much of the past month in planes . . .

trains . . .

and automobiles . . .

But I got a lot done at the retreat, so I’ll certainly have a good number for December!

And during the retreat, I made 8 pillowcases for our charity pillowcase stash at guild:

Now it’s your turn — report in and let me know how many blocks you got done in November. I know a lot of my friends have been sewing fast and furious on Christmas gifts.

December is our last chance to boost our totals for 2017. Our December block-making goal is only 17 blocks to get us up to 350. You can see everyone’s progress HERE on the Project Page.

Our October prize winner is Linda Kn.!

I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season. I love the cozy feelings this time of year brings (especially if it doesn’t snow when I have to go somewhere)!

I good month – 98 blocks. 64 in a non-scrappy log cabin for a wedding gift, 25 in a pumpkin quilt and 9 big blocks in a gift for our retiring preacher.
Hope you were doing fun travel things.

  3. Sherry V. says:

Ok, I did get some blocks done:

2 block equivalent for a 20″ pumpkin block test sample.
2 blocks for a monthly swap.
4 blocks toward a mystery quilt.

So I got a whopping 8 blocks done for the month!

But I am hoping that there will be some block piecing in December for Bonnie Hunter’s latest mystery.

Plus I have the rest of the other mystery quilt to do.

Maybe 2018 will be my year for a lot of progress?

Ok….I am not a prolific sewer! However I did get 4 blocks made for Delilah BOM, 2 for Toes in Sand, 5 placemats and sewed the binding on 2 table runners! And I’m ok with my slow progress!Lol!

I made 0. My hubby is in rehab for an indiffinate amount of time. They removed his hip and found out that he has sepsis. Very dangerous virus and very hard to treat. He cannot come home because there is no hip and he is on a continuous iv. So I spend a lot of time with him. I am hand sewing a hexie quilt while I am there. I spend my days with him and my nights packing. We are going to have to go into Senior housing. Glad you had a good time. Love the pillow cases.

    • Kari says:

      Hi Kathy,
Tough time for you both with lots of change. Sending you lots of good wishes and keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of each other,
      Kari

Kathy, My heart goes out to you and your family as you go through this tough time. My words right now are few, but I am a praying woman and I will be praying for you. I hope things are better since nearly a month has gone by. I admire anyone who does those hexies by hand! Here is a wish for each month being better in the new year!

My total for November is 44. I feel like I can say that I am recovered from my knee replacement and trying to make up for lost time. Even though I feel great, it will take a year to completely recover which is normal for surgery. The greatest therapy is sewing/quilting!

  14. Karen Edwards says:

I got 100 blocks made during November.

I hope everyone on this site makes some very nice memories of whichever holiday they celebrate.

  15. Elizabeth says:

I was busy finishing things up and had only recorded 5 blocks until I remembered that I made 30 pine tree blocks for the border of the wall hanging I’m working on, so my total is 35 for November.

  18. Diana says:

My November was very productive for me. 3 quilt tops and finished 15 blocks for a UFO that had been marinating a few years. All told 154 blocks. One of the tops is a now completed quilt and ready to wrap. It is for my husband for Christmas. So I can’t post pictures on my blog yet. He does a lot of photography of birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Found fabric and pattern for an owl quilt that I liked. Hope he does too!

  19. Pam Martin says:

92 blocks in November – yeah for quilt retreats. I went to two retreats this month!! I finished a Lone Star Quilt and 2 Star War Quilts and made a few blocks.

For goodness sakes, I can’t make up my mind.
    Happy Holidays

Finally had a great month. I sat down and finished 4 quilts this month. I am finished with the projects for the class I attend. My block number for November is 328. I think I will make the 350 this year for the first time.

Lol! Time “flys” when you’re having fun!
So tell me more about the pillow case project.

  28. Marlene says:

    80 for November

  29. I forgot to report mine, except I haven’t been on planes, trains and automobiles. I have been very busy with tiny grandchildren….and now trying to get the house and tree decorated. I did manage five blocks for Nov. I don’t have high hopes for December’s count, so I may not make my goal this year, but still trying.

  30. charlotte says:

November was a good month for me- between baby quilts and Quilts of Valor, I have made 180 blocks!! Also started a new string quilt !! Happy sewing until next time!!

  31. Linda Knight says:

I made 14 blocks to put together a quilt top in a sister’s challenge with my sister.

  33. Deanna says:

November added 37 more blocks for a total of 580. And, I am already planning for 2018. So many ideas…so little time.

November total comes to two, but I quilted a fair number of quilts. Progress.

  37. Betty K says:

Well, I made the goal of 27 blocks exactly. I just don’t know where my mojo went these last two months. I have already finished 10 for Dec so maybe I will have a bigger amount. Happy Holidays to everyone!!!

  38. Judy S. says:

31 blocks completed for me in November.

  39. Marsha Yahl says:

I have been busy quilting for my family and friends, so not even one block for me. Zero. I hope after Christmas that I will get back to my many UFO’s. Merry Christmas!

  40. Beth F says:

Did I report in yet? My November total is 53, which should put me at 338… ahhh, so close!
I’m finishing a Mystery quilt this month, so it should put me over the 350 mark!

  41. I don’t know where I left off, but here’s what I have marked in my book: January 180; February 42; then 34+14+49+7+16+19+12+2+16 = so it looks like a total of 361 for the year.

  42. Janet says:

I feel rather ridiculous having another month of zero blocks made, but I’m a creature of habit apparently. This past 2 years have been unreal, 4 (yes really!) moves, new grand-babies, weddings. I’m ready for a new year and a lockup in my sewing room – when it’s unpacked that is.
