Fresh Feets!

Yesterday was our regularly scheduled appointment with the farrier to have the boys pedicures done.

It’s gotten cold here fast, freezes hard at night, and isn’t warming up too much during the day. I guess it IS getting onto winter here, so I shouldn’t be surprised — it’s just that I’m not ready! I wanted fall to last a lot longer — like all year . . . please?

We bundled up, loaded the horses, and hit the road while the beautiful sunrise was lighting up the brisk morning.

Chip went first, so PeeWee had to wait his turn. He was a good patient boy while waiting. I was proud of him, since he no longer has Bonnie around to wait with him.

But this photo here . . . it makes me laugh so much! Chip is getting his shoes reset, and the look on his face is priceless! The dull eyes, the long, mopey snout with his lip hanging down, his ears — I can’t look at this picture without laughing!

He’s bored, there’s nothing to play with, nothing to do, and that man is messing with his feet.

But it was over soon enough, and he got his blankie back on for the ride home.

I was at first worried that I didn’t have a blanket for PeeWee, but when I pulled him out of the trailer, he was nearly sweating, so I think his winter coat and his extra layers of fat (and the excitement of the trip) served him well.

And he’s got nice fresh feets!

Chip’s pedicure should last till early January, and PeeWee should be able to make it almost all the way through winter before needing any more foot attention (he’s got great feet genetics, that boy).

It was a gorgeous morning, even if it was cold, and My Cowboy and I stopped for a big ol’ country breakfast at the Sale Barn Cafe on the way home. Yum! Yum!
