50 Days

That’s all that’s left of this year!

Can you believe it?

What are you going to accomplish yet in these 50 days?

I have a long to-do list, and there’s a lot I’d still like to finish so that it’s not hanging over my head going into 2018.

All throughout each year, I make quilting-related lists of “100 Things To Do in the Next 100 Days”, and I keep trying to beat my record of how many things I get done on the list each time. I have never yet made it to 100, but that gives me something to keep shooting for. Here’s the book I keep my lists in:

So with these last 50 days of 2017, I’m going to make a list of 50 things I’d like to get done in the next 50 days. Here’s a sampling of some of the things on my list:

  • • Catch up on Bee blocks (I have 2 left to make)
  • • Catch up on guild exchange blocks (I have 3 to make)
  • • Make sure all my un-quilted tops have backings to go with them, so they’re ready when I am.
  • • Reorganize my fabric stash . . . again!
  • • Get my scraps into a useable storage system of some sort.

So what are your quilting plans for the final 50 days of 2017?

Are you a list maker like me?

I’d love to hear some of what you’re planning to work on to finish out the year.

And don’t forget: I’m planning to once again host The Final Countdown at the end of this year — it’ll be our 9th annual Final Countdown — with prizes, as usual — so I hope you’ll join me. Get ready!

Ah, scraps…as long as you quilt, you will have them. And I am looking forward to the Final Countdown. It is a lovely way to blend one year into the next.

Well, I have hopes of getting a long, long, long term hand quilting project done. I think I should be able to have it finished by the end of the year if I really buckle down and just work on it.

My problem is that it is a king sized quilt and I don’t have any place to really lay it out except while sitting on my bed. And getting support for my back is always a juggling act.

But I will keep plugging away in the hopes of getting it finished and out of the house.

wow I was away at a quilt camp when you posted this. I just sent to snap fish and got photos of the last 4 years of quilting to put in my book. Even wasting a lot of time some days they are piling up

I actually did that 2 weeks ago and then, I looked at the list and thought “I will NEVER get all that done!” Had better get a good chunk of it as there are three Christmas gifts on it!!

Hmm… That’s a thought! There are several things I would like to get done. Maybe I will try that!

I have already finished my gifts for daughters……….actually birthdays but winter/Christmasy. I am now excitedly working on the Livestock Symposium program. How do you manage to do anything when you have all those programs and trunk shows to do? I want to get at least one more UFO quilted before the end of the year. And I am making dramatic headway on the “Simple Life” quilt. Should have it all pieced by Dec 31.

I am a list maker! Lately, my almost one year old has been stripping out my post it notes from my journal. Hey, I need all those lists! He grins and runs away. Story of my life.
