July 350 Blocks Report

Posted on July 31, 2017 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

Yet another month has flown by in the blink of an eye! Wow! I hear people talking about kids starting back to school in as soon as two weeks — where does the time go?

Did you get much sewing done this past month?

I went to another retreat, so that helped me get more done than I might have otherwise.

I have 35 blocks to add to my count this month.

I made 6 more blocks for my Anthology quilt, bringing me up to 13 finished blocks. I’m behind my self-imposed schedule.

I made 5 Florence Flamingo blocks at the retreat. These are so cute and fun!

I made 24 blocks for the new Block-of-the-Month quilts that I’ll be unveiling in the next few days, so be sure and check back to see them!

And now it’s your turn! How did you do this month?

I have the page updated with our new totals. When my new website went live, I lost all the previous updates, so if you noticed it was way off, that’s why. I think I have it all fixed now, but do be sure and double-check your totals for me and let me know if I’m missing anything. I seriously could be all confused by now!

We only have to do 16 blocks this month, which is good since August will probably be busy! That means a year-to-date total of 232 blocks. Some of you can rest on your laurels, since you’re way beyond that. Whew!

The prize winner for June is Marsha! Marsha is up to 353 blocks so far — woohoo!

Leave a comment below with your updated totals.

Oh, and check out my previous post, if you haven’t already — there’s a give-away for fabric going on that you’re not too late for! I’m drawing for the winners tomorrow.

Happy stitching in August!

Idid good this month considering the first 2 weeks were pretty much a wash! I added 76 to my total for the year so far. Made another Arkansas Crossroads quilt, 12 more churn dash, finished 16 string blocks that uncovered from a box that was packed up last year when we tore the upstairs apart plus another block for a group lotto! There are pictures in my blog below

51 blocks for me this month.

  3. Sherry V. says:

Well, even with going to a Bonnie Hunter class this month I did not get much done (mainly because DH was zooming through blocks & then gave them to me when he made errors because he does not like to rip seams).

Put me in for 5 blocks for July.

It is not looking good for me for the rest of the year. . .I have started downsizing my collections of everything and I cannot believe how many books & magazines and patterns I have. Heaven help whomever clears my estate when I am gone! LOL

    Have a wonderful August.

  4. I got a little more done this month so you can add 35 to my total. I can’t believe July has gone that fast.

  5. Mary D says:

I’ve been such a slacker in reporting the last several months, so I’m going to try to catch up this month. I made three charity baby quilts, two lap size quilts for granddaughters’ birthdays and a quilt for a wedding gift for a total of 217 blocks. That’s three or four months worth. I’ll try to do better reporting in the future!

  6. Janet says:

This should be easy – nothing for me this month. Oh well, maybe August will be better.

  7. Stephanie says:

Love those flamingos! I too went to another retreat, where I assembled some previously made blocks, then made more blocks. In July I mostly made stuff from bricks cut from my leftover jelly roll strips and binding strips.
65 brick blocks, 12 cake blocks and an 11 row quilt top from squares = another 88 blocks to add to my total.

47… I wrote a long reply and it didn’t take. Hoping this on will.

phew gotta remember to hit the I am not a robot button. In August I am bending away for blocks. Working on tops and odd bits and bobs…. It will be interesting to see what my count is. I am 70 miles from my sewing machine but I have my hexagon blob… it is growing and grown..

  9. randy says:

ah, better… I put the wedding quilt together, made the blocks and assembled the green and white checkered cross pattern, quilted a table runner, found a pile of 6.5 blocks and squeezed three baby quilts out of the pile. I am looking forward to August.

243 new blocks, for a total of 870. My husband and big kids went to Ireland for a week, so I didn’t have much cooking, cleaning, or laundry for that week. The kids were happy to play while I sewed the day away!

45 Blocks for me this month. We had lots of family stuff at the beginning of the month, then health issues for me. UGH. so, my sewing mojo has been blah. I am still working on quilting that monster sized commissioned quilt. And in between I have managed to finish my Around the World quilt top. and finished up the Sewcial Bee Sampler.

  12. Betty K says:

I surprised myself and have made 126 blocks for July. I have made 50 rail fences (because of Bonnie Hunter, ha). I have completed my normal crumb blocks, other scrappy blocks and the Temecula Mini blocks to make up the remaining blocks. This month I will be going on a shop hop so that will mean less sewing.

  13. Becky says:

I’ve done 92 blocks for July.

  14. KT says:

Just 25 blocks for me in July, though it felt a lot more productive than that! Love your flamingo block–can’t wait to see your whole flock!

  15. Cheryl says:

    112 this month ?

  16. Karen Edwards says:

Your flamingoes make me smile. They are such wonderfully goofy-looking birds!

My total number of blocks for July is 139.

  17. Deanna says:

July was an extremely productive month for me–the most productive, I believe, since I have been tracking: 122. That brings me to a total of 412 for the year. Sewing will slow as school starts, but I have a few more weeks and several goals to reach before then.

  18. I did 92 blocks in July. A lot of scrappy 9 pattches

  19. Janet V says:

I got 62 blocks done this month

  20. Marlene Clausen says:

My block count for this month is 39.

My quilt w/Florence Flamingo is about 50% quilted. Next month (September), I’ll be piecing the llamas for my grandson’s annual Christmas quilt.
Still doing a lot of quilting, but that needs to get done, too. I did cut all the strips for approx. 100 log cabin blocks, made a large tote bag, 10 zippered pouches, and a tank top. Just keeping busy!! LOL

  21. Kari says:

    Hi Shelley,
Moved again…very little time spent sewing…completed a whopping one block! However all settled, sewing room unpacked and set up, no more excuses, no more dreaming. August should be a better month!

  22. Sheryl says:

I got 12 blocks made in July. Been busy making dresses for my new grand baby due in October. Plus making her some burp cloths.

  23. Linda Knight says:

Well, another not very productive month for me but I am working on 2 T-shirt quilts and made 9 blocks.

  24. Marilyn Holder says:

For July blocks, 56 total. Need to push it to catch up on two projects. School begins and I am again helping with grandchildren schedules, which means to get organized so that I can hand sew blocks in the car.

  25. Darlene says:

My block total is only 4 for July.

  26. Ten blocks this month….not great but better than none 🙂

  27. Carolyn S. says:

I did 89 blocks for the month of July. Busy time in my household and also finishing sewing up 250 school kit bags to be filled shortly.

  28. Patty says:

I was traveling so I didn’t get any done!! I will be home in about 2 weeks and I’m gonna lock myself in my sewing room!!

  29. Been so busy with DGKs, almost forgot to post. Put me down for 20 this month – all for my scrappy quilt I am assembling from a scrap bag. Yes, summer has been short. Love your new site.

  30. Susan says:

    14 Blocks – Two Leader/Ender and 12 from a mystery scrap buster.

  31. Danice says:

I fell short at only 16 blocks for July. Gotta get with it, lol 🙂

  32. Beth F says:

Working at a local Greenhouse/Garden Center evenings (much longer into the season than I expected to be) has cut into my sewing time, and my son’s graduation party the middle of this month meant I had to pack up & store my sewing room–you would recognize it now as our dining room… !
So I have not sewn anything for 2-1/2 weeks, and somehow I managed to get 55 blocks done in July.

  33. Wendy says:

I’m late getting this in, but thought I’d send it along anyway. 96 blocks for July. Thanks!

  34. Rose Marie says:

Late for a good reason – vacationing in Colorado. I can report 153 blocks for the month. Whew! That was fun and I am already making headway on August.

  35. Marsha says:

I am really late posting. I had 6 blocks for July.
Thanks for my wonderful gift for June!
