The 350 Blocks Project 2016 Winners

Posted on January 12, 2017 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

Here it is — the moment you’ve all been waiting for — the announcement of the prize winners for the 2016 350 Blocks Project! Woohoo! That year sure flew by.

Are you anxious to see if we beat all of last year’s records?

Here’s our 2016 statistics:

  • We had 112 participants this year — biggest group yet! (I have gotten to say that every year, because our group gets bigger every year!)
  • Of those 112, we had 83 actively reporting participants. (Also our biggest number of active participants ever!)
  • Of those 83 participants, 41 made it past the 350 mark! (Some of you waaaay past!)
  • Ten of you made it past 1000 — impressive!
  • The greatest number of blocks made by one participant was 1946, made by Louise. So close to 2000, it’s scary! That’s 5 1/2 sets of 350 blocks! That’s a LOT of blocks!
  • Bec came in second this year with 1450.
  • Pat M. takes the slot of third most blocks, with a total of 1422. I’m amazed!
  • The average number of blocks made by our group each month was 2950.
  • The total number of blocks made this year by our group was 35,410! Wow! Let’s have a moment of silence as we ponder the sheer number of quilts that many blocks will make. Incredible! We sure done good — that’s 1,535 more blocks than we made as a group last year!

We beat ALL of last year’s records — I’m so proud of you all!

Are you ready to try it again in 2017? I am!

But first things first — I need to give away the rest of this year’s prizes . . .

Our December monthly prize winner is Leah. Leah made 347 blocks this year!

For the Project as a whole, there’s a Grand Prize package, and three other prize packages. The Grand Prize package is valued at around $100, and the other three are valued at just around $60 each. I gather things little by little all year to put in the packages (all stuff I’d like to get my ownself, if I were eligible!): gift certificates to online fabric stores, books, patterns, fabric, notions, etc. — so if you’re one of the winners, I hope that makes it worth your time to keep track of all your blocks and report them in!

The Grand Prize winner is drawn from among all the participants who made it past the 350 blocks goal. The other prize winners are drawn at random from among all the active participants, regardless of how many blocks you made, and it also doesn’t matter if you’ve already won a monthly prize — your name gets thrown back in for the grand prizes.

So here we go . . . The Grand Prize winner is:

Bec!

Bec made a total of 1450 blocks, a whopping amount!

The other three prize winners, in no particular order, and chosen by Random Number Generator, are:

Betty K (749 blocks)

Pam (458 blocks)

Louise (1946 blocks)

We had a great year! I’m excited to have another great one this year!

Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you ALL so very much for joining in and playing along with the Project this year.

I’ll be back on Monday with the start of the 2017 350 Blocks Project. The rules have changed just a tiny tidget, but it’s still easy, free, and has prizes! So check back in Monday and get signed up!

Wow we did make a lot of blocks between us. I wonder what that number of blocks would look like all together. I know that will never happen but it is an interesting thought. Thanks for hosting us and I look forward to this year block Project.
