October 350 Blocks Report

Posted on November 1, 2016 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

Were it not for the retreat I attended this past weekend, my block count for this month would not be as high. How did you all do?

I came up with a total of 32 for this month, and all but two of them were made AT the retreat! Good thing I went!

I made 12 blocks for the Halloween quilt I showed you yesterday.
I made 7 blocks for a baby quilt I’ll show you after it’s been gifted, so I don’t spoil the surprise.
I made these 8 little heart blocks for René in my Sew Sisters Quilting Bee:

I made these 4 blocks for Jackie for a guild exchange:

And I made this one for Jeanette for a guild exchange:

I’m hoping for an even higher number next month, but we’ll see how that pans out.

Now it’s your turn! How many blocks did you get made this month?

I’ve got the Project Page all updated as far as I know, so leave a comment or contact me to report in your totals, and if you think I have yours listed incorrectly, let me know so I can get it corrected.

Although some of them are not active, we have 111 participants signed up! That’s a lot to keep track of, so I may get confused along the way — you gotta keep an eye on me.

The monthly prize winner for September is Mary D., who has 154 blocks to date. Woohoo!

We only have two months left to boost our totals, so I hope you all have as much sewing to do as I have! Our new goal for November is another 30 blocks for a year-to-date total of 320 — past the 300 mark at this point. I’m wishing you all a very productive sewing month and a great Thanksgiving month!

I did get some blocks completed! Please put me down for 26 for October.

I have sewn/pressed/trimmed over 350 1/2-square triangles last month and 500 in September, but I can’t count them yet!!

Progress is being made. I have finished the top and pieced back of one quilt and am 5 seams away from finishing another top.
    🙂

Hanging my head in shame. . . . .I got 4 blocks done in a month.

But, on the plus side. . . .I was on a 14 day RV trip with my husband visiting family.

So, my block count stinks. . . .but I have great things to remember.

  6. 31 blocks for me, Sherry. Having leaders and enders going helps the count. You did good with all the projects and quilting you have going.

  7. Louise says:

184 blocks this month for me. I made three quilts for Hospice that had easy blocks and then I made nine pineapple blocks with 45 pieces in a six inch block. What a contrast!

  16. Deanna says:

This month I finished 32 blocks for a yearly total of 393 so far.

In 2016 I have concentrated on finishing old projects and feel really good about my progress. This month I have a quilt that needs at least 7 more blocks (or more, if I decide to make it bigger). Last year I completed only 7 blocks in all of November. Surely I can do at least that!

  17. Donna says:

I made 21 blocks this month. It was my best month so far this year.

Not too bad of a month. I made 94 blocks for a ytd of 549. Have a feeling Nov and Dec won’t be so good.

  22. Amber says:

I finished 12 blocks this month (and 4 halloween costumes). My year to date total is 258. I’m going to have to get on the ball and get some major sewing time this month if I want to finish this challenge!

  23. Judy says:

I had 41 blocks for October. It’s been a busy month.

  24. I managed 137 in October for a total of 755!!!

  25. Karen says:

In October I made 120 blocks for at total of 651 blocks. I like to have a leader/ender project and mine is a postage stamp quilt. Of the 120 blocks 69 of them were 4-patch blocks for the postage stamp quilt. I am trying to use my scraps.

  26. Rose Marie says:

Whew! At last I had time to add up my count for this month. I have 97 to report this month. But confession time: 10 of those are blocks that I forgot to report last month. 13 of these blocks are the Farm Girl blocks that lots of us in MO are going crazy with. They are so cute. Especially the 6 in size that I am doing. Why quilters never go crazy. They are just as happy with incomplete projects as finished projects. God approves, I believe.

  27. Janet V says:

    35 blocks for October

  28. Andi O says:

I had 52 blocks, though some were kind of small, so I feel a little guilty counting them. But, according to the pattern, they were indeed their own blocks. I guess it all events out over time.

  29. Stephanie says:

Just 25 for me this month, all Tula Pink City Sampler blocks. (I am making two versions of the quilt)
I spent more of my stitching time in October assembling/quilting some of the other blocks I made earlier in the year.

  30. Betty K says:

For October I have completed 71 blocks for a total of 708 for the year. Haven’t felt the best this month. Saw my heart doctor and she was not happy with my EKG. So go in for a nuclear medicine monitored stress test next week. Hope whatever the problem that it is an easy fix.

  31. Barbara B says:

    208 for October!

  32. Jackie Hale says:

I apologize for being such a slug (the slow part, not the slimy part) and not posting my block counts since August!

    August – zero
    September – 20
    October – 12

  33. Kathi Benchley says:

0 for October ( sorry this is late – had computer issues)
Spent 2 weeks at my daughter’s.

  34. Susan says:

1 block for this month, but several quilt finishes. Yahoo!!

  35. Darlene says:

I was able to make 14 last month. Have been trying to finish items so, got some binding done. Made a purse for gift for granddaughter.
    Thank you for keeping track!!!

  36. Pam Martin says:

I think I kind of forgot about this. September all I can remember finishing is 2 barn blocks. October I don’t think I sewed. For November I will have several blocks to turn i.n I finished one quilt (well at least it is at the quilters) and am well on the way to finishing another one. I remember why I was so busy in September and October I worked a lot of overtime. No extra time when I got home.

  37. Hi,
I haven’t posted my blocks, but will soon. I’m still working on my circles. I’ve got 31 for August, 30 for September and 31 for October. Should bring my total so far to 382 for the year.
