I completely skipped a task last week, because I’ve been too busy lately to care much about organizing. It certainly isn’t helping my situation any. I’m still waist-deep in scraps, but I’ve also been using plenty of them.
I’ve been working on the mystery quilt that uses up nearly 1000 2 1/2″ squares, and decided that I’d start a second one to use up another 1000 squares. Now my bin of pre-cut 2 1/2″ squares looks like this. (And I have two new UFOs, but who’s counting?)
If only I could get all of my pre-cut bins cleared out like this!
I need to come up with some more projects to use all the various sizes. In my spare time.
This week I’m doubling up on tasks. You can do either of these or both of them; it’s up to you.

I know you’ve probably continued to bookmark things you want to go back to, downloaded more PDFs of patterns and tutorials you’d like to try, and possibly even made a computer list or two. And if you’re like me, you have way too many emails in your In Box! Time to clean it all up. I think it’ll take me more than a week, but I’d at least like to get some current backups made so I don’t lose anything important. Time spent making backups is so worth it. It sure takes less time than having to restore or recreate important documents.
And my rotary cutter blade desperately needs changing. I’ve been doing a lot of cutting, and more is on the docket over the next couple weeks.
Getting these things under control will clear the way for lots more creating, right?
Such good advice! I changed my blade a week or so ago and it is high time I did a back up – thank you. xx
I use the plastic containers that grapes etc come in. They hold between 100 to over 3,000 squares. The 3400 one is 2 1/2 inch squares. I also had over 3500 ( same size ) hexies in one. I really like them because I can stack them on my shelf in my closet. And I can see what I have. I mark them with a pen/marker so I know what I have and deduct any I take out so I always know what is in the container. When that piece of paper fills up I use a new one.
By the way, here we go again. Hubbys left hip has to be redone. It has become a little loose and he has a bone sticking out that shouldn’t be there and that has to come out. Whew! enough already.

I just backed everything up, but should try and sharpen my blade and if that doesn’t work, replace it.
I would love to see that mystery quilt! My 2-1/2″ bin runneth over.
Good suggestion about the rotary blade. I’ll do that. My scrap bin runneth over. I don’t often make pre-cuts but I did make a community service quilt from some pre-cut rectangles from a Kaffe Fasset design cut out years ago. It is pretty.
Okay, next I am going to cut out 5 in squares (my own charm packs) from some of that stuff in the running over bin.
