Studio Organizing, Week 26

Posted on June 27, 2016 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio Organizing Challenge

OK, who among you (besides me) decided that you might have a few too many notions?

I have some of mine organized, but those are not the problem. The ones that are a problem are the ones I haven’t found homes for yet. Lots more organizing is on the horizon for these things.

I have these boxes, and they’re full of trims, zippers, elastic, what have you, and the box on top still has the rest of the empty boxes in it, so I could expand the stack and put some more stuff here eventually.

And my tools type of notions are all in these drawers, which because of the other organizing tasks, are all now neatly organized. And I got rid of a lot of stuff when I did these. It felt good. I need to do more of that!

So we’re on to this week’s task, which is to:

Eradicate a pile

We haven’t done this one since February, and if you’re like me, you’ve made at least one new pile since then. Not to mention, there were still piles at that time that didn’t even get dealt with! Or is that just me?

Anyway, if you’re not a pile maker like me, this week will be easy for you.

If you are like me, then we have our work cut out for us. I have way more than one pile to choose from!

So, does eradicating one pile to another count? I thought not. Sigh. You do realize that this may have a domino effect in my quilt cave. Meaning, if I need to eradicate that pile, then I need to clean that spot up to put this pile of stuff there, and if I’m going to do that . . . you get the idea. This needs to be done. Soon. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂

I have far too many notions. I think if I have one, I need 3 more. My excuse is that our grown kids and Grandkids come over and borrow some of my notions (they all quilt).

Will I eradicate any? Since I’ve an order coming with a few new notions, no! LOL! I do have furniture with drawers like yours. They’re full. Naturally.

Just ONE pile . . . I can do this (tap heels), I can do this (tap heels), I can DO THIS (heels MOVE)!

As do I!!! several piles need to be tackled,
    so I can think straight.

I eradicated a pile of community service fabrics by ironing and folding them and putting them in the bin in my basement where they are stored neatly and cleanly for a work day. I also made a few community service quilt tops and have them ready to be quilted. I threw away one top that was so ugly and made from such cheap fabrics, I didn’t want our guild to be named if it was given. So although I made a pile of to-be-quilted tops, it is small and not nearly as messy looking as that pile of unironed stuff. I threw away a big sackful of fabrics unsuitable for quilting. Some of that I have been packing around since the early 90’s.

Oh dear – I have piles on piles on piles in my sewing room.
This weekend a little pile of brown strings kept falling off a small container onto the floor. I took it as a hint (after the third time!) and made them into 6 string blocks.
Then started in on the pile of little bits in the container, adding them to an existing UFO. Yay me – I will have blocks to report at the end of the month, after thinking I would have Zero.

I really worked on my notions. Too many? Yes!

I have too many piles too. LOL
