Studio Organizing, Week 17

Posted on April 25, 2016 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio Organizing Challenge

Did you find plenty to do last week?

I cleaned off half of my cutting table, altho you already can’t tell that I did it! And since I was traveling, but had my computer with me, I cleaned off a few computer files. I’m trying to get my email inbox to zero, which is proving to be more difficult than it sounds.

Are you ready for this week’s task? I’ve decided we’re going to:

Pick one thing you’ve been procrastinating on organizing and just do it

I always have it in my mind that something’s going to take way longer than it really will, or that it’s going to go way faster than it really will — I’m a terrible judge of how much time a task is going to take!

That one thing is a major source of my procrastination. I either think it’ll take too long, or I can whip it out at the last minute, so I choose something else to work on.

I know one thing I’m going to tackle is the pile of paperwork. It gets out of control in the blink of an eye. If it takes me less time than I imagine, I’ll also pick something else. There’s a whole list of things I’m procrastinating on.

How about you? What’s your one thing? Will it take you longer than you think? Or is it a quick thing you should have done a long time ago?

I procrastinate on filing all of our paperwork (bill receipts, etc). It’s putzy, and I’d rather quilt. My stack has grown and needs to be done, so I’ll see if I can tackle that this week.

Only one thing? Pick one, any one! LOL! Mine, right now, is cleaning out totes of “what was I thinking” items that can either be tossed or donated! It’d take all of about 8 hours and clear a lot of space.

Well, I did OK last week. The owners manuals are sorted and in one container.

This week will be the last week for most of May that I’ll be able to participate.
I pick my desk. I need to get things in order there so we can start fresh when we get home.

Well, well. Guess what I did just yesterday? I organized/cleaned my sewing room. I couldn’t even find it. For the past week hubby was in the hospital for 4 days. So my days were spent there with him. So everything got shoved in there. YUCK!

So yesterday I decided to TRY to clean it up. Took me a couple hours. Not bad considering I hardly had foot room. When I got done, I decided to work on some microwave pot holders. Got them already to put the 2 pieces together.

Then I got a queen size quilt together to take to my quilt guild this Wednesday to put together. I’m tying this one. She wants it that way. So they have a big frame that we connect to put any size quilt on. Then we all work on it. Great guild. Nice ladies.

Would you believe it’s snowing here. YUCK!! It’s the end of April for crying out loud! My Daffodils are not happy. Well gotta go get ready for my water PT. Love it , the water is 90 degrees. Yum…

  5. I’ve filled a couple of boxes of stuff I’ve culled from the room. Now to get them into the trunk and off to new homes. Maybe Thursday.

I sorted through old quilt magazines and gave the box full to a quilting friend.
Now I need to get rid of old emails, that is time consuming because I end up reading. Well I should just allow an hour and see what I accomplish.
