I’m starting to lose track of the days again. I totally missed that yesterday was Thursday. Can you tell it’s deadline season around here? I’m operating in a bit of a panic mode these days. I feel like I don’t even really have time to be creative.

That right there is one of the reasons I started these Creativity Challenges. I want to make time to be creative more often. I want to draw or do something creative every day (besides the creative stuff I do for “work”, which is usually for someone else). But right now, it seems like a guilty pleasure, a selfish thing. The real work is calling!

Did you make a drawing every day for the last challenge?

I’ve done six, but have not started another page yet:

    6Drawings

These are each approximately 2″ – 2 1/2″ square, but not exactly, and not all the same. I just eyeballed the divisions I made. I didn’t want to get too wrapped up in the perfection — I just wanted to draw!

I hope you used last week to catch up or do whatever creative thing you wanted to. All I’ve had time to do is jot down ideas for more creative things, but not act upon them just yet.

I’m traveling for most of the month of May, so I’m taking it a bit easy on us all with the next few challenges, simply because I myself won’t have time to do anything real involved.

    This week’s challenge is:

    Draw something with colored markers

This can simply be more doodles, or it can be something you really want to draw. You can draw it with black, and color it, or you can draw the entire thing with color. The options are endless, and open to your own interpretation. The size of your drawing is also up to you to decide, but I think I’m going to make mine in my 8 1/2″ x 11″ notebook. There’s not even a rule that it has to be on regular paper, either — draw yourself a tattoo! Make a wall mural. Decorate a paper bag. Spice up your file folders or mailing envelopes. Use that imagination — it needs the exercise!

You can use any kind of markers you want to. I’ll probably be using Sharpies as my marker of choice, altho I did recently buy a set of these Staedtler triplus fineliners that I’m anxious to try out. Maybe I’ll use some of both! We’ll see . . .

    markers

An aside: I found the Staedtler markers because I accidentally stumbled upon an art supply store in the town nearest us. If you’re near the Marceline, MO, area, stop in The Paper Station on Main Street and check out their fun stuff! There’s even an art gallery attached next door, which is fun to go through. I’m going back again when I get time. And again. And again. Because I have an art supply fetish. Do you?

So there’s this week’s easy challenge. Go have fun with it. Get your kids involved, if you have kids. If not, just play like a kid yourself, and have fun with your markers!

One Responseso far.
