A Blockbuster Year — pun intended!

We did fantastic!

350button15

I’m so happy and thrilled to report that we beat every single one of last year’s records! That was one of my goals for the project, and all of you helped me reach it! I’m so proud of us!

Here’s our 2015 statistics:

  • We had 98 participants this year — biggest group yet!
  • Of those 98, we had 82 actively reporting participants.
  • Of those 82 participants, 40 made it past the 350 mark! (Again, some of you waaaay past!)
  • Nine of you made it past 1000 — impressive!
  • The greatest number of blocks made by one participant was 1658, made by Sue H. The woman’s sewing machine must be on fire! That’s 4 3/4 sets of 350 blocks! In other words, a LOT!
  • Janet V. came in second with 1573. It must be a genetic thing, because Janet just happens to be Sue’s aunt!
  • The third most blocks were made by Bec, with a total of 1490. Wow!
  • The average number of blocks made by our group each month was 2823.
  • The total number of blocks made this year by our group was 33,875! Woooooohooo! That’s a LOT of blocks! Folks, we did a lot of sewing this year — some of us more than others!

Thank you ALL so much for participating — it gets to be more fun every year! Think we can beat all these records next year? I’m so anxious to find out!

First, though, I have to give away the rest of the prizes . . .

Our December monthly prize winner is Arlena H. Arlena made 785 blocks this year. Whew!

For the Project as a whole, there’s a Grand Prize package, and three other prize packages. The Grand Prize package is valued at around $100, and the other three are valued at just around $60 each. I’ve been putting these together little by little all year: gift certificates to online fabric stores, books, patterns, fabric, notions, etc. — so if you’re one of the winners, I hope that makes it worth the time it took to make all those blocks and report them in!

The Grand Prize winner is drawn from among all the participants who made it past the 350 blocks goal. The other prize winners are drawn at random from among all the active participants, regardless of how many blocks you made, and it also doesn’t matter if you’ve already won a monthly prize — your name gets thrown back in for the grand prizes.

So here we go . . . The Grand Prize winner is:

Pam in KC!

Pam made a total of 646 blocks, and if you read her blog, you will have seen that she knocked out quite a few UFOs this past year, and has set some pretty sweet goals for 2016!

The other three prize winners, in no particular order, are:

Angie in SoCal (365 blocks)

Maxine (685 blocks)

Charlotte (459 blocks)

Have I said how proud I am of all of us? We really did great!

I’m so excited to do this again — watch for the post later this week, and we’ll get the 2016 Blocks Project going. I hope you’ll join in again, or if you haven’t yet, consider joining us this year — it’s always so much fun!

Absolutely FABULOUS! A HUGE congratulations goes to 4 very wonderful ladies for winning fab prizes! Pam in KC, Angie in SoCal, Maxine and Charlotte!

2016 will be our best year EVER!

  2. WooHoo! I won – what a nice Three Kings Day Surprise! Thank you, Shelly for hosting the 350 project. It’s so motivating – made a lot more baby quilt to donate because of it.

I know I only did a few blocks at the beginning of the year – spent most of the year on learning machine emroidery and digitizing which paid off for the presents all year and at Christmas – but this year I want to do way more quilting.

Have spent an hour a day since Christmas cutting up my scraps and organizing them – still more to do – so it looks like I will be ready when this years post comes out.

Congrats to those who hit those hugh numbers – where do you find the time. I imagine your machines are humming (or clicking for those who use the wonderful vintage handcranks and treadles) and awful lot of the time. I am envious!

As always, this challenge is FUN!! I love hearing about what others are working on. I get inspiration from each and every one of us. It’s amazing what we can produce in a year’s time.

Congrats to Pam, Maxine, Charlotte, and Angie in SoCal. (I’ve enjoyed following Pam’s blog, too. Wow, does she churn out the quilts!)
    Thanks, Shelly!!

Those are impressive statistics! I’m so excited that the enthusiasm for 350 blocks keeps growing! I’ll be back for 2016. Already have my blog sidebar set up – just need the new button and it’ll be perfect! Congratulations to all those winners. Isn’t it fun to have prizes? All of us who realized how much work we did (which is why I count – to feel like I really AM doing something as the days drift by!) were winners, though. =)
