Studio Organizing, Week 33

Posted on August 13, 2015 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio Organizing Challenge

So how did you get along with organizing files on your computer? Did you get those backups made?

I cleaned off an amazing amount of files I no longer need. (My downloads folder gets crazy out of control in a short time!)

I backed up my most important things. Files I would hate to have to rebuild from scratch if something happened. That would sure put a damper on things! I also cleaned out some email folders — they get out of control in a hurry, too.

The one thing I have left to do is clean out my photos and back them up, too. But I didn’t think I’d get all of it done in one week, so that’s a project for the near future. I’ll keep plugging away at it.

So . . . this week’s task . . . what will it be? I know I need to repeat a lot of the tasks, because they’re either ongoing, or I didn’t get them done the first time around . . . but, I think I want to leave it wide open for us this week, so here it is:

Choose 10 things to deal with

And yes, this is also a repeat, but it gives you a bit of liberty to choose what those 10 things are, based on what you think you need to do the most, or what’s bothering you right now.

What’s bothering me right now?

Honestly, it’s way more than 10 things, and most of them aren’t even sewing related, but I’m gonna start with:

• Cleaning off the top of my cutting table . . . again
• Putting away fabric that is scattered around . . . again
• Working on my office closet some more, and
• Organizing some more of my UFOs

That’ll be a good start — it’s basically a lot of cleaning up from the aftermath of yet another marathon session, and getting organized to begin the next one! And I’m sure it will easily spawn another 6 things that need to be worked on.

How about you?

Do you have 10 things you could deal with?

Will it be easy for you to choose what you’re working on this week?

Are any of yours the same as mine?

I’m interested in what you’ll be working on . . . let me know!

  1. My to-do list is just like yours, except my UFOs are in good order since I organized them last winter. But every project I work on creates the same messes. I really have to give my cutting table a good cleaning again…yesterday I needed to cut some large pieces and shoved everything to one side….now it’s really hopeless 🙁 This will be my first priority today.

I will be dealing with the purchase of a long arm and the need to make a space for it. Yep, I am taking the plunge. I have my hired helper coming over tonight to get started. They were ready to deliver this weekend but I am not. I said next weekend but they are not available. So the Saturday after it will be and hopefully by then I will have a nice, big, wide open space! There are definitely 10 things to deal with for this undertaking!

Amazing how good intentions can be put off – sometimes indefinitly. When your blog this morning gave me the reminder, I stopped and found the thumb drive with backups on it and added new stuff to it. So for now I am pretty organized on the computer. I think it is pretty likely that I don’t have everything backed up that would matter, but the grandbaby pictures are safe. What else matters!! LOL

I did get all of my quilting patterns backed up on a thumb drive.

Ten things to deal with – first and foremost I think I will deal with the dust bunnies. I am sure that will turn into many other things. Second I need to clean the table next to my cutting table. This is my catch all. It is pretty tall right now. Then there is this chair next to my table that has a stack as tall as the table. I know that is only three but I will be happy if I get all of those dealt with and still have some sewing time.

I did not get as much done last week. Not even touched my quilting this past 2 weeks. 🙁
It should be a better week in the coming weeks, so I’m hopeful for getting some of the 10 items worked on.
