Studio Organizing, Week 26

Posted on June 25, 2015 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio Organizing Challenge

I’m sad to say the upstairs pile of magazines didn’t change at all. But I did make a tiny bit of progress on the pile downstairs. I’ll keep chipping away at it. How did you do?

This is the last Thursday in the first half of this year, so I’m sort of in a “regrouping” frame of mind, trying to get organized for the last half of the year, and make it count. Therefore, our task this week is to:

Make a list

I’m a listmaker. A chronically addicted listmaker. I make lists for everything. I don’t always follow them, but I sure like having them. This week, I’m asking you to make one, too.

This list can be whatever type of list you want it to be, but here are some suggestions:

* a to-do list (to move some projects further along)

* a list of gifts to make (get a jumpstart on Christmas instead of waiting till November!)

* a list of your UFOs

* a list of your WIPs (works in progress)

* a list of supplies you need to get

I’m sure you can come up with more list ideas, as well. (And let me know what they are!)

I’ve been working on making my list of UFOs current. I’m also trying to get my list of completed quilts updated.

My spreadsheet says my current number of UFOs is 50, (which in and of itself is outrageous), but I happen to think that number is incorrect — on the low side. I think it’s much worse — and as I’m organizing and unearthing things I’ve been working on, I’m trying to get that number corrected. Hopefully, it will shock me into finishing some of them!

I’m debating whether I should let you know the corrected number once I find out — what say you? I’m sure it’ll be embarrassing! Do I want to embarrass myself that much?

My list of completed quilts currently stands at 206, but I have not updated it in a loooong time, so I know there are many more to add. Maybe when I get that number updated, it’ll take the sting out of the UFO number. We shall see.

So . . . how about you?

What list do you need to make or update?

What sorts of things do you keep track of with lists? (or need to start keeping track of?)

I’m anxious to hear what sorts of lists you make and use. (I might want to start another list of my own — suggestions are always welcome!)

I try to make a list for the week of things that need to be done and what I would like to do. Some times the list is well check off and others little on the list gets done. It gives me a place to start for next week.

I am still going through my magazines. I don’t know where they are coming from, but they keep showing up. I won’t know what to do when they are done. Maybe I will have to go back through them???

Oh how I love my lists. I’m the queen of lists, according to my friends. LOL
I started the list on my blog..http://melsquiltingblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/prairie-moon-organizational-challenge.html

    Good and fun challenge.

I have a spreadsheet that I track wip/quilt tops/finishes/purchases ete and I’m pretty good at keeping it up-to-date. WIP-32, Quilt tops-32, finishes for the year 5 — I have no idea how many total, that might be interesting to know. Each month I make a list of what I want/plan to work on– but I don’t always follow the list!

I did not do any cleaning last week. I am a list person too. I have list of books to read, places I want to go on vacation, sewing I need to do, I list my nieces/nephews every year and check them off as I make each of them something every year, and of course my Procrastination list.

I need to update my sewing list – it is everything that I have purchased things to make but is not started or completed. Maybe I will start a list of things I want to make – that might be to long!

  5. I work from my planner every day and ‘sew’ is always on that list. Then in my sewing room I keep an ongoing list of projects, happy when I can check something off. I’m doing well in the block challenge but not so well in the procrastination challenge. Much as I’m trying to finish UFOs (50+), things come up and there’s always a new quilt that absolutely has to get done 🙂
