Modern Quilts and More

Kimberly Einmo’s newest book is out, and I’m so excited that I was invited to be a part of it! It’s called Modern Quilts & More (published by AQS), and it’s chock full of cool new projects. There are over a dozen projects, merging traditional with modern — more specifically, using traditional techniques to make modern quilts. Kimberly also offers lots of extras in the book, just an added bonus!KimberlysBook

You’re gonna want to see all the cool projects in the book, but I’m gonna show you the cool project I got to work on, so bear with me while I brag a little . . .

I got to quilt one of the quilts for the book, and the quilt I quilted is called “Modern Chain”:ModernChain

While I was working on it, it started reminding me of the circuit patterns on circuit boards, so I started calling it the Circuit Board quilt, and Kimberly actually adopted that nickname for the quilt in the book!

I even got to write a little something about my inspiration for the quilting designs I chose:MyPage

And here’s a close-up picture I took of the quilt while I was still in possession of it:MCcu

I used gray thread all over it to match the background, and you can see from this picture how I carried the designs of the squares into the background. It was a lot of ruler work, and a lot of fun.

I mention in my paragraphs that I was in the presence of greatness while we were discussing possible quilting options for the quilt (Kimberly and Susan Stewart), but now that the book is out, I feel like I’m even more in the presence of greatness — some of the other quilters who quilted quilts for the book are Judi Madsen (the Green Fairy herself), and Birgit Schüller! I’m still in awe that I was included among them . . .

A big thanks goes to Kimberly for allowing me to be a part of this — I’m very honored!

Kimberly has also offered to let me give away a copy of her book to one lucky winner here on my blog. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win. I’ll draw for a winner on Tuesday, May 20th.

You will want to see the rest of the cool projects in this new book. For another sneak peek, you can visit the post that Judi did about some of the quilts she quilted for the book as well. And if you don’t want to wait, you can purchase the book from Kimberly HERE.
