100 Days

Posted on September 24, 2013 by prairiemoonquilts in Lists

As of last Sunday, September 22, there were 100 days left in 2013.

What will you be doing with them?

Every year, 3 times a year, I make a list . . .

The list is called “100 Things To Do in the Next 100 Days”.

I list 100 things I’d like to accomplish during those 100 days, and then see how many I can check off the list before the 100 days is over.

I do this because I have to play games with myself to stay motivated. Each time, I try to beat my previous record of how many things I got done off the list.

I keep my lists in this book I had custom-made especially for my lists. I’m a professional list maker!booknew

For the last 100 days of 2013, I’ve made yet another list of 100 things I’d like to get done before the end of the year. My list is completely quilting-related, and includes things like, “Finish my guild challenge project”, and “Put the binding on the green table runner”, or “Organize the scrap pile”.

Theoretically, if I check just one thing off the list each day, I’ll have done all 100 of the things on my list. I’ve never gotten all 100 things finished. I’m not even sure at this point what my current record is!

Do you have a list of things you’re trying to finish before the end of the year?

What do you intend to get done with your last 100 days of 2013?

Please feel free to share in the comments . . . I’d love to hear what you’re working on!

Oh goodness, Shelly, I am such a list maker, too. I’ve never thought of breaking down the year in the 100 items/100 days manner.

I love the idea of keeping the list in a journal where you can refer back to it over the years. I used to do a detailed “to do list” for the house when we were building, but not for quilting. I do have a top-ten list for quilting for the year, but I like how you break it down into 100 day segments and the more specific little things, like “put the binding on the green table runner”. By breaking a project down into smaller parts, I’d get quicker satisfaction and more things checked off the list!! I’m on it!

Thanks for the idea. I’ve got the journals at home, so tonight I begin!

Here’s to 100 Days of projects!

Oh, yes, I have a list! It’s mental, for the most part, although there are 3 partial lists (all different) in my blog. I’d be afraid to list 100 things. I might discover there were more!

  3. What a great idea! I’m a list maker, too. Love your beautiful quilting and blog. Looking forward to seeing your guild quilt finished.

Wish I had gotten in on that at the beginning! Just think of all I would have accomplished.

I’m a list maker as well but had never thought of making a list like this! I might have to sit down and write one. 😉

Shelly, this has lit a fire under me…. I’m sewing every night after work and sometimes two times a day if I can squeeze it in before work. Things are getting checked off my list and real progress toward completion of UFOs is getting done! And for fun, I make sure to spend 15 minutes cutting up scrap fabric into 2″, 1 1/2″, and 1″ squares. That cut squares pile is growing and the basket of scraps is beginning to get smaller. I’m so happy!!!

    Thank you for the challenge.
