350 Blocks Project: The February Report

Posted on February 28, 2013 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

Have you all been sewing?

I know February is the short month, but some of you are really goin’ at it!

I finally managed to catch up a little, but I’m actually still some behind. Maybe one more month, and I can do it, ya think?

So this month, I made 35 blocks. The only reason I got them done is because I had a deadline. And I made 33 of them all in one day — the day of the deadline. ‘Cause that’s just how I roll . . .

Procrastination reigns around here sometimes. OK, who am I kidding? I mean ALL the time.

And this is the only picture I took of them, because I had to throw them in my bag and run out the door to guild meeting, where we were going to exchange these blocks for this year’s challenge.WChainBlox

I now have 36 blocks like this, some of them made by my fellow guild members, and I’m to come up with a finished quilt by September, using all these blocks. So you’ll see them again . . . probably the night before we’re to turn in our finished projects.

So now it’s time once again for all you participants to let me know your final February totals by Monday, March 4. You can leave a comment on this post, and if you write your own post about it, be sure and leave us a link. You can also email me your total, or use the contact form HERE. But you need to give me your updated total, and let me know you’re participating, so you can get in on the prize drawings. On Monday, I’ll draw one random winner from everyone who met the goal of at least 45 blocks, and one random winner from all the participants in general (excluding myself, of course).

I’m giving away a mini-quilt kit, and some fabric, and maybe a pattern this time. So send me your totals, and keep on stitching!

Desertsky Quilting 19 this month and 61 so far this year. My e-mail didn’t put the total total, just the month’s total. Sorry!

I finished 42 blocks this month for a total of 82. I blogged about it here: http://amidthismoment.wordpress.com/2013/03/01/350-block-challenge-february-update/

I finished a mere 36 blocks this month. But they were hard. Not because the blocks were hard to piece……….all squares and rectangles. But cutting the right colors in the right amounts was a challenge. Sometimes it seems my head is just way too old to think right. I plan to quilt for another 20 years. By the time I am 90, I will need someone to cut everything out for me, put it in baggies, label the baggies, give me a picture of the block to use as I construct each block and help me put them together. But I will be happy to still be quilting. My poor daughters may not be so happy!

    Hey Shel,
I see that the block in the photo has a piece of fabric that I donated to your stash. In very small pieces, of course. You and I were together at a retreat in Jeff City when I bought it. I can remember yesterday much better than today! LOL

I actually met February’s goal with 32 (easy) blocks for the month. I’m still short 9 blocks year-to-date though.

BTW…I saw your QuiltCon quilt on Rene’s blog…LOVE IT!!!!!

I was much less productive in blocks this month, but I did manage to put together my Easy Street top. I made 8 more of those blocks, plus 2 for a group quilting project, one to donate to an online block call for a quilter with a friend who is just starting chemo and 3 blocks for another scrap quilt. I also pieced a pillow front, quilted it and made it into a cover. So the total for February is 15. I won 3 lovely Thomas Knauer Flight fat quarters last month, so good luck everyone, our block count hostess is sending lovely prizes. 😀

I completed 16 blocks in February, which I think is a record for me. 😉

    Counts
February: 246 if you count 105 hand hexagons basted. There was over 100 1 1/2 inch HST that I did. Trying something different this month with small scale… 🙂
Here are some of the pictures of what I did this month.

Well, I finished 26 blocks in February, just short of my 28 block goal. Drat! On the other hand, that is 54 for the year….growing…growing…

  10. Great job getting things done! I like your blocks. I am so behind, I need to figure out what I have finished. I have no idea for Feb, so I’ll just include that in my March total. I think I already emailed you with some for Feb, didn’t I? 😉 I’m so scattered right now, I don’t know! haha!

l know this is for February but I’m going on a retreat next week so I’m getting my count in now, go ahead and move it to the right pages when it time please…..So here is my count Since I joined the group I have finished up a lot of Shop Hop Blocks.. 18 2002 blocks, 12 2003 blocks, 18 2004 blocks, 6 what I call ugly blocks, and this month I had a lot of time home with a bug, so I was able to work on 55 of the 77 2010 Shop Hop blocks. for a total of 109 blocks…

  12. Bobbi says:

I need to correct the number of blocks I told you. It looks like in my previous comment, I added my March blocks to the total goal through February rather than adding it to the blocks I had actually completed. These are the correct numbers:
    March – 37
    Total – 119
And, I have actually had a chance to blog about it now.

Sorry…I just commented in the wrong place. I’ll go put the comment where it actually belongs.
