• Pam’s Memory Quilt

One of the quilts I quilted before Christmas was a photo memory quilt for a lady named Pam. Pam made this quilt for her mother for Christmas, and she did a fabulous job. I love how she did the setting. All the pictures were black and white, with a sort of sepia tone to them, and she chose fabrics that went so well.Pamfull

For the quilting, I used black thread, so the custom quilting I did doesn’t overpower the quilt or take away from the pictures, yet it still looks neat up close.Pam1

I outlined each picture, then quilted a “frame” around each one, then a bigger frame around those.Pam2

It was very interesting to work on because I enjoyed looking at the pictures. I also like how she framed some of the pictures and placed them over the intersections. It keeps the quilt from just being “blocks”, and allowed her to squeeze in several extra photos!Pam4

Pam also embroidered the family names in the larger sashings. There’s a lot to look at on this quilt.Pam3

Here’s a shot of the back. It’s actually solid black backing, I just couldn’t get any real good pictures of it.Pamback

I can only imagine that Pam’s mother was very surprised and pleased with her gift this Christmas.  What a treasure!
